Does anyone use AVA food?

Is it any good? Been using it for my puppy, when he had his old food he would eat it all in one go but with this food it lasts all day. Wondering if it's filling him up more or if he doesn't like it?

My rescue pup came with it, and she scoffed it in one go. Half a tin a day at 10 months. I checked with the vet who said she was old enough for adult food so swapped it for Sainsbury's own brand pate foil tins. It's a lot cheaper and she loves it.

My vet said after 6 months it was ok to move to cheaper food (basically work from chappie up) as that would give what was needed.

Thanks. He's not touching dry food at all now and will only eat wet. It's just so expensive though. Do you know any affordable wet puppy food?

I think that depends on how you define as affordable?

You can use allaboutdogfood.co.uk and if you put in the dogs weight and age and filter by wet food it will show different brands and with an indication of quality and cost per day.

My pup has Ava as we got it free from PAH.

My pup doesn't like it but I think that's more because it's a dry food.

Ice tried her on several high end dry and wet food and she doesn't like any.

She wolf's down pedigree chum and own brand supermarket wet food though

Am ordering some millies wolfheart and plan on soaking it and adding a tablespoon of crappy wet food to make it paletable to her.

She s a right royal pain in the bum.

Well I would say Asda's own brand wet puppy food is quite affordable. He will only eat the dry food out of my hand??
When I look at cans of wet puppy food from Asda it says for his age and weight he needs 2 cans a day, which is 800g. I think that's way too much for him, does anyone else not follow the guidelines?

Asda puppy food scores terribly on allaboutdogfood.co.uk and looking at the ingredients there is hardly any meat/fish in or compared to higher quality ones which consist of a named meat 60% or more. Often you will have to feed a larger amount of poorer quality food due to the 'fillers' than the higher quality ones.

I'm just wondering how important it is to have good quality food for a puppy this is the time when they are doing all their growing so personally I would spend more during the puppy months and then get cheaper when an adult if cost is a big factor on what you can feed your puppy.

I feed my dog Forthglade which is very good quality & fairly well priced at Costco.

Wainwright's wet food from PAH is pretty decent.

Chappie, pedigree chum,ASDA are rubbish - keep away from meat derivatives, colours, sugars & wheat. Dogs are supposed to eat meat. (Although my dog has been known to eat fresh horse poo...)

I'm using James Wellbeloved wet and dry food at the moment as I returned the AVA food. He has no problem eating the wet food but has just eaten his dry food but only from my hand. Is it worth persevering with the dry food? Thanks for your replies everyone

@Oxfordblue there's always someone trying to criticise isn't there. I can afford to feed my dog decent food, I was just asking questions about more affordable foods to try and save money. Not that it's your business anyway.

Dogs were fed by nothing but table scraps for decades.
You can find a decent food at a reasonable price.
