What type of dog do you think this is?

We were told our 12 week old puppy Ozzy was a pomapoo (Pomeranian cross with miniature poodle) but now we aren't so sure. Everyone says he looks a border collie but he's too small to be that. The vet says that he doesn't look like a Pomeranian or a poodle. We've looked at other photos of pomapoos and some do look similar to him. We're planning on doing a dog DNA test in the near future. I'd be interested to know what people think
Thanks

Jack Russell puppy, I'd have said!

With a bit of King Charles for luck.

I'd say Cavalier King Charles spaniel cross poodle. Can you post a pic of his tail?

Jack Russell x poodle

Surely you at least saw his mother and therefore know what half of him is? Where is he from?

Poss collie x Jack Russell
Where did you get this incredible ‘designer cross’ Puppy farm/backyard breeder per chance?

Didn't you see the mother and some of the litter mates when you were choosing him? Confused

My first thought was definitely jack Russel in him. He's so cute!

Mongrel?

Maybe crossed with a shih Tzu?

We were told by the RESCUE that he was a pomapoo. But they weren't 100% on it. Just wanted to know what people think, didn't come here to be accused of allowing sick individuals to farm puppies.

@QuestionableMouse here's his tail. Can't get the best photo at the moment as he's fast asleep. The tip curls up towards his back

Does it matter???

Where we he rescued from at that age that he wasn’t with his mum or siblings quite recently? If you could post his history and background, that would help. A pompapoo is hardly a common cross - why did they think that? Where did he come from?

I'm not sure but he is super cute , much more so than the so called pedigree mixes .. well done for 'rescuing 'him 😍😍

I would say jack russel x King Charles spaniel. That tail is very jack Russell-y. He is very cute. Congratulations!

King Charles and poodle I’d say. This is my munchkin of that cross but 75% King Charles. He’s not tricolour like yours obviously.

Gorgeous puppy. Give him a squish from me.

Right let's just get this straight he is from a reputable rescue ( I'm not saying where as it is near to where I live and I don't want to give out that sort of detail.)
Breeds are actually quite important as not only do they help with feeding (as certain foods go on estimated adult weight) but more importantly if there is any disposition for certain medical conditions so we know if there is anything we need to keep an eye out for.

Oh fgs, maybe the rescue found him abandoned alone. No need to accuse people of supporting puppy farming. Why do people have to be so sanctimonious on this forum instead of helpful?
Op he looks just like my Jack Russell x did as a pup.

He's a very cute mongrel, and surely as such, you don't need to fret too much about genetic disease?

Gosh no idea really but then I am rubbish at guessing breed combinations. Totally understand you wanting to know but maybe it will be come clearer in a few weeks when he grows.

Maybe your vet can help out or if you really want you can get doggie Dna done

CherryBlossom23 · 21/09/2018 19:53

Yes I would guess jack Russel X collie too, that's what mine is and he has the exact same fluffy ears and snout shape.
