It was time to say goodbye

14 years ago after leaving an abusive relationship I adopted a dog from the Dogs Trust. He was with me for 14 years through everything life threw at me and him and sadly this morning at the ripe old age of 16 I held him in my arms as the vet helped him to cross that bridge.

I can not stop crying, he was a pain in the backside at times but he is so going to be missed. And I loved him so much.

I hope there is a heaven as I hope he is young again and happy and running around trying to eat anything and everything. We used to call him the garbage disposer, I was constantly being told off by the vets about how fat he was.

And he loved chocolate how he ended up not killing himself is beyond me, he would sneak into wherever he needed too to get to it. Hated my housemate and chewed on the end of her diabetic pen which she had not noticed and assumed she was still injecting the correct dosage everyday. She nearly died literally lol.

The amount of times I had to bail him out of the dogwarden kennels as he escaped from the garden, cost me a fortune. The way he used to hump his bed after dinner lol or sneak into the cats litter box and eat the poops. God I am going to miss him.

He looks like a hero dog.
Sometimes we are lucky enough to find them just when we need them.

Sorry for your loss but I'm glad you had him Flowers

He is gorgeous. We had a JR and it has been 7 years since he died aged 14. He still holds a very big place in my heart, he always will as your precious dog will too. I'm sure there is a dog heaven. We had our dog cremated and when I go he will be scattered with me.
Big hugs FlowersCakeBrew

Thank you ladies, I keep on looking out my office window seeing him how he used to walk his route around the garden.

Time is a great healer and he is definately got a big place in my heart. They are family and even my partner who only got to live with animals once we moved in together had a good cry as we said goodbye to him, I am so glad I stayed with him till the end.

I am having this photo made into a print.

As always, I am slightly in awe of a dog that managed to be so loved during his lifetime that he is missed so terribly after he goes.

Well done dog. You did life well. Wine

OP, Flowers for you, for it really is heartbreaking when they go.

Thank you everyone, still catch myself thinking he is still here and it still hurts but it is getting a bit better.

Nothing worse than losing a member of your family, he was a good old boy. :)
