Apologies if this has been asked before - Bravecto

The flea treatment we have been using (Stronghold) doesn’t seem to have been working properly and our vet has prescribed Bravecto which is an expensive tablet.

I have googled it and there seem to be quite a number of cases where it has caused internal bleeding and vomiting.

Have any of you used it and how did you get on?

Thanks for your help

We use this and have never had any problems other than getting it into the dog in the first place! The leaflet says it’s a chewable tablet with a taste acceptable to most dogs but ours won’t go near it even slathered in pate. It’s quite large and you’re not supposed to break it up. But no side effects Smile

We use this for our dogs with no side effects. I’ve got Labrador’s and they just gobble it up whole. Smile

Have you looked at Seresto collars?

I wouldn't use a pesticide on my dog that is strong enough to affect the dog for three months with no antidote. There are incidences of death soon after consuming due to sensitivities to the ingredients. My vet has stopped selling these tablets.

I use a seresto collar on my dogs, which although still a poison, can be removed immediately if the dog shows symptoms.

We use a similar product for our dogs. I googled it too and I decided that it was safe. Our vet uses it on her own dogs ( I am 100% certain she does). You will always get horror stories about any medication. People don't tend to go online and say how fab things were. No I'm Evan be certain the drug caused the awful thing that happened.

Weve been using Bravecto for a few years with absolutely no problem . If you look hard enough all medications have their issues .

I would not touch Bravecto with a barge pole.

There have been a lot of anecdotal problems with it and I agree there will also be others that have had no problems but the lack of research and acknowledgement from the manufactures to side effects worries me .

Also there are other safer treatments out there.

Bravecto is an easy to administer treatment but is it worth the risk? There is no going back once your dog has ingested it.

I will never forget the rescue puppy that died in the vets 6 hours after taking bravecto - the lack of acceptance that bravecto could have been involved and the refusal to the report frightened me.

I wouldn't. I met a dog owner whose dog was very poorly with liver issues and whose mum's dog died afterwards.
