Tiny dog winter coat

Just a bit of help please.

I have a beautiful pomeranian puppy.

By winter she will be 5-6 months old.
Im looking for a thick fleece lined winter coat for her. Somthing thay is suitable for her shape and hair.

I ended up getting a made-to-measure coat for my dachshund cross, who's a funny shape - usually too short for dachshund coats, too long for other coats. I got it from these people - they measured my dog at a show www.dorsetdogtogs.co.uk/

I've got an Equafleece which is great and comes in a whole variety of sizes (inc. one to fit mine!!) and I would recommend.

I would say that a pomeranian should be quite resilient to the cold - they're double coated dogs. When I had one years ago she didn't need a coat unless there was snow on the ground - though rain was beneath her dignity!

The one I have for mine is Danish Design by Susanne Mortensen. It's thermal and the label says it's waterproof, windproof and breathable.

It goes over the head - has a small collar - and covers the tummy, which is important for a little dog. It''s very light and kept her very dry, when she wore it.

However, I found that having a double coat herself she kept pretty warm, unless it was actually snowing, and she wasn't keen on wearing a coat of any type as I think she just got too hot.

She did have a jumper for a while when she was going through her first winter - she was born in April - which she seemed happy to wear. I don't put clothes on my dog as a rule but this jumper was sold as an alternative to a coat, so not a fancy jumper.

If you want her to wear a coat I highly recommend this one. Although, I bought it for her when she was a about 2 years old, she's 7 now, so don't know if the company still make this sort of style but I imagine they still make coats like it and one that will cover the tummy.
