Some background, 2 JRT 1 girl 1 boy. Girl is10 we have had her 8 years( rescue) as is boy who is 6 and we have had 4 years.
Love each other to bits, cuddle when sleeping etc. She is dominant and they seem to have almost a mother/ pup realtionship.
Boy has never showed ANY sex drive since we got him. Vet said hes in top health and not to worry. However over last 2 weeks he is constantly harrassing girl dog and trying to mount her. Hes constantly got his nose up her bum and wont leave her alone, following her around, crying and trying to mount her. It really stresses her out and shes snapped at him several times. Where has this suddenly come from at 6 years old? He shows no interest in mounting anything else like legs or cushions btw- just her. She was spayed 8 years ago, but he was never nuetered as previously there was no need to! Any ideas whats causing this and the best way for us to handle it?
TIA

I’d take her to the vet tbh, I’d be wondering if she had a UTI.

I mean it might be a sudden behavioural change, but it seems more likely that she’s giving out a scent that he’s interested in and I’ve known it to happen that dogs have a mild UTI and suddenly other dogs are like, what’s that?....

Got her an app at the vet tomorrow. Going to get her checked out and maybe ask the vet for some advice too

as the others have said it could be a UTI, it could also be dominant behaviour as she is getting older and he is thinking he can take over top dog roll, hope all goes well
