Metacam reaction

Pup sprained her wrist at the weekend and off we went to the vet. He gave her an injection and then a course of metacam starting Sunday.

The instructions say stop use if there is vomiting or diarrhoea. After two doses we have a sea of diarrhoea and some vomiting. Instructions say to stop use which we have and I shall be contacting the vet for an alternative when they open.

Anyone know how long it will take to recover from the upset tum side effect? Obviously it's not the same as an infection. Just wondered if anyone has had his.

Thanks.

A few hours, I should think. Provide water, but no food. I'd also go back to the vets today.

I haven't given metacam to my dog as we were prescribed some but actually didn't need to use it in the end.

My ILs dog had taken it though and it had a similar effect with D&V.

My dog was prescribed metacam for arthritis. She was vomiting for three days and lost her appetite. No diarrhoea. It took her three weeks to recover.

I've called the vets and am waiting for a call back. She hasn't done any more since about 5:30 but has been out for a wee.

She is chirpy and playful and drinking and seeing normally. Hopefully it will clear quickly, fingers crossed.
