Camping with dogs

So it's all a bit hectic at home and I was thinking how nice it might be to escape for a few days with the dog and go camping and walking.

The thing that gives me pause (paws?) for thought is what to do with him when I need the loo or a shower? I wouldn't like to leave him alone in the tent, car or tied up outside.

Has anyone else come across a creative solution? Or a campsite where dogs can come into the shower/toilet block with you?

Depends how much space you've got in the car, but we take a dog pen with us. It folds flat in the bottom of the boot, mind. Means we can have the front of the tent open with a 'garden', or can pull it round and put dogs in so they're confined (and away from all our food...). At dog shows lots of people make 'gardens' with the orange safety netting/fencing stuff and metal stakes. Not very pretty, but very effective!

I have a cage for the boot which I can lock with a padlock. I go camping with dh though so no problem with leaving the dogs - but if I were going on my own I would lock them in their cage. I've known too many people have dogs stolen to risk leaving them anywhere unsecured/unattended. Sad really....I never used to worry about attaching then to the railings outside the shower block!

I crate my dogs in the tent at night and while leaving them for short periods.
