My beautiful DDog has incurable cancer

She is currently curled up beside me having had a lovely chicken dinner. She has been a bit off colour for a couple of weeks and not eating much, so this morning I took her to our Vet for a check up. Lovely vet, had a feel of her abdomen and then said she thought she should do an ultrasound then an xray and some bloods. It turns out DDog has a tumour in her abdomen (spleen we think) the size of a large grapefruit and possibly a couple of smaller ones on her lung. I have looked at the Xrays and the tumour is huge. She is 10 yrs old and might not survive surgery, so I have made the heartbreaking decision just to take her home and look after her, whilst she is still enjoying life and will PTS when she starts to go downhill.

Am heartbroken, she is the loveliest dog ever and just doesn't deserve this. She is my only companion during the week as the DCs are at uni and my DP works away. I have no idea how long she will be with me, but I am guessing it wont be that long Sad

This is just awful for you. I lost my DDog from cancer, so I know what you are going through. We made the same decision as you about taking her home. When the time came I held her paw and said goodbye. I wept buckets but she’d had a wonderful life, she was loved and cared for and gave doggy love back, in spades.

In time to come you will remember the love and the good times. 💐

Ah that's so sad. Been there too.
Try and enjoy the time you have, at least you know she's had a good life and you are doing the best you can for her.
You will know when it's time. Big hugs to you and lovely dog.

Those woods look familiar to me. Are you in the south east?

I'm so sorry you're going through this Flowers

Take her home and spoil her; be it a trip to the KFC drive through for a boneless bucket or sunbathing in the park. Make these weeks or months the best you possibly can, and know that you are doing the right thing by her x

Really sorry for your pain OP. You can enjoy this special time now with your Ddog and really take time to love her to bits. My Ddog died of a tumour at 10 and we had no inckling - from diagnosis to passing was 24 hrs, this was horrid and a huge shock. Enjoy the time and do what you think is best for her. Xxxx 💐

Spoil her and enjoy the rest of your time together.
