The doghouse

What on earth is wrong with the dog?

We had a lovely walk this morning, he played as usual with 2 other dogs who he seems to like. He did go into the yukky water so when we came home I had to actually shampoo his legs because it was so rank but he doesn’t have a problem with that. The rest of the day has been pretty normal; he had a snooze at lunchtime, I went to the supermarket. This afternoon we played for a bit in the garden with one of his favourite toys and he was joining in and everything was fine but for the last hour or so he’s not leaving my side, just standing with his head towards the ground but not actually doing anything and just acting really really bizarrely. Getting up, moving in a circle, lazing down. Any ideas?

Poorly tum? Poor thing hope he’s back to his usual self soon.

Stormwhale · 13/06/2018 20:35

My dog does this when she has eaten something really bad. It's like she is waiting to see if it's going to come back up. Most of the time it does.

Any grazes?

I'm paranoid about Alabama Rot.

As he's been in water / mud I'd get him to a vet asap.

Merrylegs · 13/06/2018 20:39

Walking in circles? Could be neurological, like a stroke.

BiteyShark · 13/06/2018 20:42

Mine repeatedly gets up and moves in a circle and then back down again when in pain or discomfort.

Did he ingest a lot of the water?

PositivelyPERF · 13/06/2018 20:42

Do you have Facebook? If so, stick a message on asking if anyone has had their dogs take I’ll after playing in that particular park. We had a few dogs take ill after playing in the stream in one of the local parks. The vets suspected slurry run off from a farm further up. If there is something in the water, then others will know if ill dogs.

Poor thing, could he have been bitten, I agree he needs to see the vet. I hope he is ok.

WatcherintheRye · 13/06/2018 20:43

Do you think he might have swallowed some of the dirty water?

ilovepixie · 13/06/2018 20:46

Maybe phone the vet and ask for advice? X

IslaBoots · 13/06/2018 21:06

Sounds like an icky tum to me. How is he now OP?

mckenzie · 13/06/2018 21:17

Thank you all.
I took him out as he was lurking at the front door and while out he did the most disgusting, smelliest poo ever. DH thinks he’s now right as rain. I’m not so sure though. Im about to offer him dinner again.

How is he today?

mckenzie · 14/06/2018 20:01

absolutely fine and completely back to normal. Thanks for asking.
I’ll keep a better eye on him and stop him going near that murky water next time I’m in that park in case he managed to ingest some of it.

Goodo. Glad he's okay.

They do twang our heartstrings for sure!

Mol1628 · 14/06/2018 20:28

Glad he’s ok! It’s so worrying isn’t it.
