SO upset. We ( several neighbours) had our suspicions for ages, but due to the location of our access to hers difficult to judge, but we all knew she had two gorgeous Rotties who are never walked.😢

(Context- small rural village, lots of dog owners /lovers mostly lovely neighbours, I’m the local dog walker so know lots of families around & in & out at odd times. This owner has lived here most of her life & known to be a bit chippy we all say hello, chat in passing but not in each other’s pockets.)

Yesterday an emaciated young Male Rottie was found in the village, cue the usual dog lovers/owners network trying to sort him out. Was taken to a Vets & subsequently PTS supposedly due to a life limiting diagnosis. The state that boy was in doesn’t tie in, if he WAS that bad, ypu’d Have put him down weeeks ago wouldn’t you & look after him a bit more?

The neighbour claimed the dog was hers on our local community page & told everyone he had been PTS then disappeared.

So many people, including myself are upset for this poor lad & the dogs left behind. Piecing together what we know we reckon she has had a litter of pups if not two a year for at least 5 years. ( not neccessrily the same bitch)

Difficult to report before as no one has had evidence till now. . The dogs have a large pen & piece of garden but pace up & down the boundary like caged bears. The Male escapes sometimes & has tried to attack dogs.

All these details have come to light only recently & a group of us after this event yesterday are going to do all we can to get some inspection done but realistically not sure what would be achieved.

Not sure why I’ve posted but so angry hopef you lot would understand I just wondered if anyone else had had this issue & what you had done.

That's so sad :( it's so worrying what can go on behind closed doors!

If they're purebred Rotties, have you checked to see if she's listed on the Kennel Club website? If so, flag with them the issues you have. Good luck getting an inspection, call the local council and the RSPCA. When the male has escaped, has that been flagged to the local police (just on 101)? If he would attack another dog due to lack of socialisation, what if that other dog was with a group of children too?

So worrying :(

Oh those poor dogs, I hope you get them help. I would worry they're over breeding from the bitch, and not taking her to the vet to be checked.

Is there any way they could erm, "escape", be "caught" and taken to a vet for a check up/to check microchips? They would get them back if healthy, and have a lot of questions to answer if not.

The Kennel Club tweeted someone who was worried about puppy farms which could be useful here too:

"We inspect all Kennel Club Assured Breeders, who have to abide by strict rules. All breeders are subject to Local Authority regulations, which the Kennel Club have no jurisdiction over. We will always investigate complaints regarding Assured Breeders and will take appropriate action if necessary. Complaints regarding breeders who fall outside of the scheme, have to be investigated by trading standards, RSPCA or local authority."

Be worth seeing if this neighbour is on the Assured scheme or not, they'll be listed on the KC website.

Thanks all, I doubt very much she's on any assured scheme or register, all about money for her.

To top it all now, they have gone away on holiday and left the remaining girly on her own. Angry
The owners elderly parents are coming up to feed her every day it seems, as they pass my house. She is barking almost constantly & this morning has jumped over the hedge from her enclosure ( an unheated shed with a largish piece of garden ) & is at the main gate, barking & snarling at any one passing.
We're all sick of the situation, both for the welfare of the dog but at having our peace ruined & all our own dogs stressed by the noise & have all agreed to report to anyone we can think of.
That poor dog.

Wicked That thought had crossed my mind but not sure she would allow anyone to take her, but would certainly be up for it if I can get the RSPCA interested, ( unlikely)
