Walking steppedog this morning, I decided he was TomSawyer/Huckleberry Finn.

  1. He knows how to behave well at home, and looks cute and endearing for family at home, but can't wait to get out of the door.
  2. Any food is fair game, if you're not looking it's his
  3. he would much rather be outside, messing around in mud and woods
  4. He has a stomach of iron. If he can he will eat it. ANYTHING. And no ill effects
  5. He seems to knock bump and scratch himself and not notice. A bit like Tom sawyer coming in with grazed knees and ripped trousers.
  6. Thick skinned, never mind the brambles when there is suirrel to hunt

Ohhh mine also has an iron stomach....I'm so glad, she definitely needs it (yuck). She squeals like a .....well, sighthound if she knocks herself though.
Mine is named after a Disney character. She has gangly legs and doe eyes ......Bambi!

Mine would still be a dog, she would definitely be Kipper from the Mick Inkpen books. She’s very sociable and loves all dogs and other animals, she has her group of mates that she likes to see every day.

Unfortunately my crabby rottweiler would best fit in a Stephen King book I fear.

Mine would be Jeeves and Wooster. The bumbling idiotic clown and the smart one who looks out for him.

I’ve also compared mine to Horrid Henry and Perfect Peter.

DH and I realised the other day that our first dog was Father Jack, our second was Dougal, and our current one is probably most like Father Ted.

When I first got mine I thought she was a bit like Uriah Heep (in David Copperfield - for those of you who don't know him, he is an arch baddy but is always abasing himself to his employer/employer's family and friends, "betters", etc in a very humble, excusing himself, way which is entirely fake). She was pretty obsequious and kept trying very hard to please and be good (after the previous dog, who had attitude, it all seemed a bit phony). However, she has relaxed into being herself (still wants to please and be good most of the time but now confident enough to argue with me if we have different ideas about the best route to take our walk ) - it is a relief as I couldn't have stood Uriah Heep long-term.

Trying to think of a character that's a complete mummy's boy, anxious underneath but totally covers it up with misplaced bravado and occasionally gets himself into stupid scrapes as a result.

I'm sure there's a children's book character that covers the above but it's been a very long time since I read a children's book!

My cocker would be Catherine Earnshaw. Manipulative and possessive.

Marvin the paranoid android from Hitchhikers’ GTTG. He’s always looking for sympathy, “hunger, don’t talk to me about hunger, it’s so long since I ate my digestive system has collapsed in on itself”.

Most definitely Tigger. He even speaks the same —in my head—

My cat wouldn't be a character in a book but the animal version of Frank Bruno. A bit of a heavyweight.

Grommit (if that counts).
