Help!!!

How do u keep your lovely homes clean from all the mud when letting your dogs out??

Apart from following them round and washing there feet every 90 mins or so when let out into the garden...how does your house survive the mud fest?

It doesn't Sad

I found keeping the hairy springer's paws well clipped (inc between pads) helps a little as there is less fur to cling to the mud.

Other than that, watching with interest...

I hear you! This must have been the muddiest winter in a decade! Luckily we have all hard floors downstairs. After her big walk I wash her paws, and when she comes in from the garden it’s a quick wipe with her towel. It’s very time consuming Hmm

We replaced the downstairs lounge carpet with wood effect flooring!! Ddogs have to dry off before they are allowed upstairs to the nice lounge!! And have a few nice doggy blankets for the floor!! ( also one on the sofa for sneaky ddogs!)

Spend most of my life on hands and knees washing the floors.then the rest of the time in washing muddy towels and dog beds.
Hurry up summer!🌞

Wood floors downstairs, short haired, long legged dogs and high mess tolerance.
There are also 4 DC so my house is more ‘wipe clean’ than lovely.

We used to have a lovely cleaner but she moved to Dubai and new rescue is too scared and reactive for us to replace her yet.

It’s grim at the morning meant but summer is round the corner!

Hall and dining room (which has the back door into the garden) are tiled. Luckily the garden is big enough with enough grass that he doesn't come in muddy.

Totally different story when it's from a walk. It's tuck under arm and straight into the shower.

Karndean all through downstairs, muddy dogs don't go upstairs. Currently I have a mop bucket filled all the time in the hall so that I can whizz it round a squillion times a day as even my very low standards are struggling with the amount of mud my two dogs, plus two fosters are bringing in. The fosters are pups, so are going out hourly to wee, and just that tracks a whole lot in.

I have two of these laid end to end in the utility room so when she comes in from the garden most of the mud has come off. They get washed every week or so at the moment.

Also got a hosepipe outside the back door for when we get back from walks.

I also just put up with a smear of mud at dog height around the walls but when I've had enough of it a baby wipe does the trick.

We fenced off the patio area with an ornamental fence it’s a win win , no mud indoors , the garden stays intact and in the summer we can all use the grass including the dog .

Sigh....I'm so fed up of mud!!! After walking they get their legs cleaned with warm water outside, then they get towel dried.
But ultimately painting the kitchen (where the back door goes to the garden) brown helps hide the dirt WinkGrin also mopping the walls!!!!!!

huge turtle mat by back door, and then a thick towel laid on the floor, every time dog goes out and comes in we make him stop on the towel for a fuss. That helps a lot, but yesterday he did that and then ran intot e lounge and left huge muddy prints all across capets everywhere.

After a walk he is hosed down, so wet rather than muddy and I dry him with a towel, and do between his toes

But I don't look too closely at my kitchen floor...

Tomorrow Im buying a new mop and a new big matt Grin

Any hints and tips about avoiding a doggy smell please?? I have two girls. They are smelly dogs even after bathing...which is no easy feat.

Currently have plug ins everywhere and use smelly candles.

Towels at both back and front doors, and he is (more or less) trained to wait for his feet to be wiped before he goes any further.

Re doggy smell... No dogs on furniture, choose 100% washable beds and wash them often, bath dogs regularly and leave the shampoo on for 5 -10 minutes. And don't have a lab! Grin

If he's too (poo-rolled) or muddy he gets lifted into the shower

House doesn't smell doggy. Washable covers on sofas, laminate flooring, dog and dog bedding washed regularly. Dog fed on meat and vegetables with raw meaty bone treats. I think his food helps

Ooh must go to Dunhelm and get one of those mats, thanks for that CaptainHolt. At the moment I'm wiping her paws every time she comes in from the garden or walks, although walks usually involve a more thorough wash as she's low lying - short legs - and long haired.

I'm so fed up with winter and mud.

@pigsDOfly the mats are amazing! They come up like new after a wash and I've had mine 18 months now. They do fill the tumble dryer with fluff but it's a small price to pay.

Wish I'd known about it through the winter; my poor carpet. Sad

Iheart the reviews are great on the matt, I shall go have a look. Might look into changing their biscuits if it helps with how smelly they are. Love their smelliness but not when i walk in after getting in from work lol
