New Puppy - 'shivering' when sleeps?

Got a new (and very cute!) foster puppy that arrived Friday, a Romanian rescue who is 6.5 months old. He was due to arrive in the UK a few months ago, but got parvo and so was nursed back to health and then had to restart jabs / wait the right number of weeks for rabies jab etc before could finally travel.

He was a scared wee thing on friday but by saturday had totally come out of his shell and came out fundraising with the search dogs and our team and loved meeting all the new people, and has loved coming out and about, meeting people, animals, to the woods and so many other new adventures. :)

So to the point of the post, when he is asleep, he kind of shivers over his whole body; not like the usual occasional twitch that most dogs do when asleep (we call it dream bunny chasing / puppy dreams usually ), but over his whole body and pretty much the whole time he is asleep. Is this something I should be worried about? I've not had such a young one in quite a while, but don't recall others doing this all the time. He's got very poor muscle tone as little exercise, and of course wasn't fed decent food, but seems a bright happy little thing otherwise. Anyone have any knowledge / experience and can advise?

Obviously if continues will seek a vets advice, but don't know if I'm worrying unduly?! Thanks

My dogs shiver when they're falling asleep, tends to settle once they're sound

he doesn't stop when deeply asleep, it seems to happen the whole time he's asleep which is why am a little concerned about it

It may sound ridiculously obvious, but would he tolerate a blanket over him? Our dear departed jrt was a very cold dog and always slept covered up, even in summer, unless it was really hot. Failing that, perhaps you could film what he's doing and show it to your vet?

Our dog shakes when he's in pain.
He can appear totally normal apart from the shaking.
He'll often stop if he gets distracted by something, but will start again a bit later.

We had a GSD who dreamed like no creature I have ever known...goodness knows what he dreamed about but we'd have yipping, barking, shaking, running, heavy breathing and he was much much worse if not in actual contact with someone. Usually me, and usually his head on my foot, or my foot on him somewhere.
If he was stretched out on his sofa someone would have to go over and lay hands on him to stop him.

My rescue terrier loves to snuggle me under a blanket. I would try a soft blanket which is quite light weight.

BachS Rescue Remedies do a supplement for their food which helps to keep them calm.

It does sound unusual. May be nothing but worth asking a vet plus maybe some research. Definitely a good idea to film and show vet.

I've filmed it and he's also having coughing and sneezing fits, so filmed those and will be heading to vets with him

He is beautiful OP. I'm no expert but I'd definitely get him checked out at vets. Hope all is well.
