Nibbling?

My 1 year old Boston terrier mix nibbles on blankets whenever she gets a chance. Does anyone know why? I've never had a dog do this before. I've been stopping her in fear of a hole developing. Should I let her?

Pica?

I think it’s a habit/sensory thing.

Only problem is them ingesting something they can’t pass or poisonous/toxic.

I've a miniature dachshund who does this. He would also give me a bloody good grooming if given the chance. I got him a Kong teddy to do it on, it's strong with a rope body, but I have to watch him with it. I have to watch him in general really, as he's a sock pilferer and slipper nabber too.

Having just watched my dog go through emergency surgery to remove a piece of cloth jammed in his intestine I would strongly encourage him not to chew on blankets because I would be more worried about it becoming a habit and swallowing a large bit it than holes appearing.
