Inspired by a thread of the human variety. What things do you love the most about your dog?

I love the way he does a mardy little scrunched up face if you disturb him sleeping
That he is so cuddly
His little trot back from the end of the garden
When he sleeps with his tongue sticking out 😍

When she sits on my knee like a toddler Grin
When she rolls into her back for tummy tickles.

When he excitedly clipclops down the corridor after you.

When he jumps up on the sofa and leans on you and puts his paw on your leg.

When he makes woofing noises in his sleep.

When he jumps up and down in excitement because you have got his ball out to play.

Woofy sleep noises.
When I get in to the house and he stands on his back legs to “hug” me and huffs in my face.
The way he sits on the stairs with his nose in the bannisters, or half sits on one stair.
The way he’s ready for bed at 9 and heads for the stairs every time I get up.
The way he loves a bath and watches it run all happy till you say get in. Aww.

When i smooth her face and she stares at me with her big, innocent brown eyes.

When I say the word ‘walk’ and she dances down the hall.

When she arranges herself in the curve of my belly at night.

I 💓 her so much.

i like waking up to the sound of someone creeping along the hallway, and then seeing the little black nose ease the bedroom door open - then his head pokes in, face all questioning like, and when he sees me awake and smiling at him his ears go up and his tail starts wagging and he does a flying leap onto the bed for a big cuddle (for about six seconds before he gets too hot and has to get down again and lay by the door). it's the only time i don't mind being woken up Grin

When he jumps up to snooze on my footstool, and periodically gives my ankle a lick followed by a contented sigh.
When you can tell he's enjoying a walk because he gives a little skip on his back leg.
When he comes back from a walk and the adult dc have come to visit and he goes mad shrieking with joy because I'm sure he thinks they come to see him alone.
When he gives a half hearted run to move the neighbour's cat from the garden and then struts back as though he has taken on a lion and won.
When he senses somebody has had a bad day and jumps up to sit at the side of them and quietly lays his head on their lap rather than his usual full of life approach.
When he heards us when we are all out together as if to say "these are my family" and you can see him counting us up to check we are all there.
Lots and lots of stuff th.

There are so many things but something that is relatively unique to him is his bottom lip. It is pink (he is liver and white) and vertically creased like a little human lip. He sticks it out when he is upset, like he is sulking.

I laugh every. single. time.

How much she also adores my Dh. They love having snuggles and sleeps together

She sleeps with me in my bed and I love it

Thanks bitey. I am stone cold in love with this dog but I see from this thread, I am not the only one and that many others are equally bonkers about theirs. Is there anything more heartwarming than knowing so many dogs have loving homes...

missbattenburg I just can't imagine life without mine now Grin.

Soubriquet you have just reminded me of another thing I love. When BiteyDog is exhausted sometimes DH carries him to his bed and picks him up just like a sleeping baby Grin

I have had my rescue dog for nearly 3 months. She is not an affectionate dog but always lays on my feet as soon I sit down. She is so excited to see us when we have been out and lays down for a belly rub first thing in the mornings. She makes my heart sing as I have waited 7 decades for my own dog.

Ddog1 - the absolute joy on his face when you tell ds it's bedtime and he runs up the stairs and flings himself into ds's bed. And then looking in on them in the night, and ds will often be sleeping with his head on ddog1s tummy

Ddog2 - his happy dance when I say 'right' and get up from my work desk - which means it's walk time

Current foster pups - the girl squiggles up against me on the sofa so she can lie with her nose in my lap and she looks up and me and sighs happily. You'd never believe how badly they were treated before they were rescued and they are so loving

I love the smell of their paws,
I love how happy they are to see me even when I only left the room two minutes ago,
I love how they seem to check me over every morning just to make sure everything is in order,
I love that they have to clean me after I have had a shower,
I love how enthusiastic they are about training, even though they seem to forget it all as soon as we leave the house 🤔
I love how they adore children, mine and everyone else’s.

Awwwh everything!

But I love how excited he gets when we say "Walkies"

I love how he walks backwards like a boss.

I love his little tippy tappy dance he does when we've been out for a while and come home to him.

I love his zoomies.

I love when he rolls over for belly rubs.

I love it when he gets excited when he sees other dogs but then I feel bad when he can't always play with them and we have to cross the road

We've had our 7mo rescue pup for two weeks. He has already learned that I don't like him to jump up at me. In fact, when he is excited to see me he tries to sit down to be a good boy, but he is so excited and his front paws are going mad that his bum ends up slithering about on the floor in excitement. It is the cutest thing. He's so young and we've had him such a short time but he's so affectionate and happy to be with us.

Report
confusedandemployed · 19/03/2018 06:03

ConfusedDog isn't affectionate but every night we have a catch before he settles down beside me to shore and fast his way through the night 😍

Also even though he's nearly 16 I love how he still proper sprints to catch up with me on a walk.
