Oh, I know that awful feeling. I'm so sorry. He's obviously in the safest hands with the vets - they won't let him feel any pain.

He was my childhood dog, I've had him for 15 years, I'm 24 now.

I am honestly heart broken, he's still trying to jump up me. He still has a bit of sparkle in his eyes.

I feel so, so cruel

Aw bless you both. It is so so hard but better a day too early than a day too late.
He has given you his unconditional love for all those years and now you are doing the right thing by him

How handsome does he look after a stroke and multiple seizures?

Thank you for your kind words, it's hard. Really hard.

What a beauty. As a person with severe neuro issues who has no choice but to keep going, I promise you you're doing the right thing.

My childhood dog died when I was 24. I was absolutely heartbroken- and I still get a bit teary if I think of her, all these years on. But she was so special, just like your lovely girl, and you’ll cherish her memory. My DC know all about her ... love lives on.

What a gorgeous boy. So sorry to hear your news. I can't imagine how you are feeling, but I dread that day with my spaniel. Shes almost 6, so hopefully a way off yet Flowers

Oh what a very lovely boy. It is just awful that they don't share our span. Though it is unutterably painful, rest assured you are doing the most loving thing for him. May his passing be peaceful. Handhold from me.

Stunning dog. One of the loveliest things I have read recently is ''you will never be loved like a spaniel loves you'' and having a spaniel myself, I know he will have been a much loved pooch in return...how could he not. Remember the good times, he will never leave your heart. xx Flowers

My beloved boy is still with me until Monday, I'm not sure if that's worse knowing we only have very little precious time left together.

Those that don't have dogs don't understand, do they?

His mind is still young, he still tries to reach for my tea towel to play with but his body is failing him. He can't walk to get his water or food, so I've been sleeping downstairs with him.

He's been everywhere with me, we even flew to Australia to live for a few years and I still remember his tired little face after the journey. It was if he said "oh thank god, you're still with me!"

Now I'm crying again.
