Dog hates toothpaste!

Having a real problem brushing our dog's teeth using Arm & Hammer beef toothpaste. Usually so compliant, usually so willing to eat anything, he hates the taste.

Any suggestions? We give him sticks to chew on which hopefully eases some plaque, but his breath smells, so i'm conscious he has issues

I get one from Viovet (I think) that is made by Virbac. It is "poultry flavour". I think they do other flavours too. Both my dogs have been fine with it.

You can use plaque off in his food. It's slowly breaks up the plaque on his teeth.

Never clean his teeth. He eats quite a lot of bones and raw meat and never eats dry food

Mine go nuts for the Arm & Hammer toothpaste, they would chew a tube if it was left in reach! They like this one too, and it leaves their breath more pleasant than the beef scented paste. Plaque Off is absolutely brilliant too. We use a combination of brushing once a week, and Plaque Off a couple of times per week - teeth are sparkling.

My dog hides when I get the toothbrush out so he has a carrot a day which has improved his teeth and breath then a scale at the vets once a year.

Sunshine, do you have to put dog under sedation for the scaling?

I believe so, hubby takes him but could depend on your dog??

If a dog is fed decent raw diet with proper raw bones there won’t be any need for brushing a dogs teeth.

We've resorted to Plaque Off sprinkled on food, it's brilliant.
