Help with barking

Hi all I am posting here in the desperate hope that some one might have an idea of what to do. We have a 10 month old Labrador cross Shepard. He's huge but a big softie. He's well behaved everywhere except in the house when he thinks some one is at the door.
He goes nuts barking lunging (though not agressive) if it's a delivery driver we are forced to tackle him into the kitchen as nothing we have done will snap him out of it.
If someone comes into the house he barks and goes nuts until he gets to them and then he flops into puppy mode so they can fuss him.
The thing is because he is so big the barking etc is intimidating to people who don't know him.
In all other respects he is well behaved and an obedient dog and this issue is only in the house.
Any ideas?

There's a great group on FB run by actual behaviourists. It's called dog training advice and support. Worth joining to ask on there?

You may need to draft in a stunt visitor. Also think about what behaviour you do want. What can you do to encourage that?
