Raw feeding with some cooked treats

I have a retired Greyhound, when she came to me she was fed on kibble, she was very uninterested in it, we changed her gradually onto tinned food, she liked it for a while but went off it, she now eats a raw diet and is thriving, however now and again I like to give her what I (rightly or wrongly) consider to be a treat... Some cooked ham or chicken, she's eats it enthusiastically but within half an hour she is sick, does this mean that she now can't tolerate cooked meat?

I read somewhere that if a dog is raw fed, then they shouldn't eat anything else a good couple of hours before and also after eating raw food.

My dog has digestive problems and did really well on raw, but it was when I gave her extra treats that she got very bad indigestion. It's one of the reasons I've now switched her to Butternut Box because she can also have those extra treats like cooked chicken, dried liver and so on without the resultant digestive problems.

I feed mine raw with non raw treats no problem. Maybe she is eating it too fast? Could try a slow feeder?

I think she probably is eating it too quickly, she's always been a bit sensitive to cooked chicken (toxic farts), strangely enough she's fine eating it raw.

My dog is raw fed but her treats are cooked chicken as I don't fancy carrying a pocket full of raw meat on our walks Grin

She's fine

Perhaps give her smaller pieces?

My springer is fed raw but treats can be anything from dry biscuits to cheese to hot dog to roast chicken - all of which he is fine with. I think the myth of them not being able to processed raw and cooked foods is debunked now. What I think they sometimes struggle with is the transition to raw after a long time fed exclusively cooked/wet/kibble but this is just because their digestive juices need to be a bit more acidic for raw and take time to adjust but once adjusted the acidic juices can digest anything, including kibble.

Slowing her down or using smaller pieces is worth trying.

Instead of putting the ham or chicken in her bowl, I'll try hand feeding her small pieces of cooked meat and see how she gets on, she's been fed raw for around 8 months now and I've had no problems getting her to to eat (which on kibble and wet was a nightmare, one day she'd eat and the next day wouldn't). Thanks everyone for your replies.

My puppy is on raw, but hoovers up under the baby's highchair, eats dried liver treats, etc. She doesn't like kibble but otherwise eats most everything quite happily. She's gone off pig ears since eating raw, which is such a hassle. They used to keep her calm and busy for ages!
