Dog with diarrhea and not drinking

DDog is 7 months old but a large breed so 25kg already.
He had diarrhea overnight in his crate on Thursday night/Friday morning. I didn't feed him Friday morning and spoke to the vet on the phone. She said to feed him that night with boiled chicken and white rice and continue that for 48 hours. He seemed fine in himself, wanting to play etc.
Yesterday he had more diarrhea which was bright yellow and had lots of brownish mucus in it. I spoke to the vet again and she said to take him in. He had a slight temp but everything else was ok. So he had an antibiotic injection and she said not to feed him until tonight, 36 hours off food, then back to chicken and rice. I have to take him back if he still has diarrhea in 48 hours.
We've notice that he's drunk hardly anything since yesterday and nothing this morning. He's still cocking his leg to wee but I don't know how much he is peeing.
He is really hungry, his searched all the floor looking for crumbs, and still wants to play but not interested in water. He's not had diarrhea today but not done a poo either.

He had all his vaccinations when he was younger.

Does anyone have advice on how to get him to drink? I don't want to be a neurotic owner, ringing the vets all the time as he seems fine in himself.

When mine was very young with diarrhoea the vets gave me a bottle of liquid (think it was chicken flavoured) to help rehydrate him. He lapped it up and could not get enough. Any chance you could just ask at the vet reception about getting something to help him? I did order some online to keep in the house just in case but can't remember what it is called.

Hello

My boy was ill last week with the same thing. He also hardly ever drinks water. So when I did his chicken and rice I added warm water and made it a mushy. He absolutely loved it and it kept him hydrated.

Hope he is feeling better soon. My boy was on rice and chicken for over a week before I could start putting him back on to his normal food.

My 7 month old had similar. I cooked chicken with extra water and mushed it up and she loved it, I also had some proper homemade chicken stock/jelly in the freezer, which she found irresistible. Just warmed it up to a liquid and it was gone in a flash, despite her not wanting much solid food.

I'm not allowed to feed him yet but I do add extra water to the chicken and rice mush. Its since I stopped feeding him that hes stopped drinking.
