Advice on rehoming dog

My dad wants to rehome my late mum's beloved dog. He is alone now and works 10-12 hour shifts. I know he can pay for a dog walker but she is used to being around people all the time (mum didn't work due to health problems) and my dad leaves the house at 530am and doesn't return home until 6pm every night and she is left in the kitchen alone all that time. He takes her for a walk, spends a few hours with her before she is put back in the kitchen until 5am when he takes her for a quick walk and she's on her own again. It's just not fair on her.

I also work and I'm not allowed pets or I would have taken her. Plus she isn't very tolerant of Dd and tends to growl at her as she gets fed up of her easily.

Can anyone offer any advice on how to rehome her?

I'm sorry for your loss. Would the Cinnamon Trust help as it was the pet of someone who has died? They do permanent foster rather than adoption.

Contact you local blue cross or dogs trust. They will be able to advise you and if they can take her they will match her with a suitable home. It doesn't cost anything to hand over a dog and you will k ow that a responsible home will be found

I've never heard of them but I will have a look and see if they could help us. Thank you Wolfiefan

Also if it is a pedigree then a breed rescue may help. Or contact the original breeder.
Cinnamon Trust are awesome and countrywide.

pumpkinpie5 thank you

Wolfiefan she's a Jack Russell and Cairn Terrier cross.

Not a chance of contacting the original breeder. We actually rescued her and her brother from a backyard breeder when they were 4 weeks old and being fed on bread and water! It was my mum's friend's neighbour and she just couldn't leave them there. We have never been dog people and were not even looking for a dog but they had already sold all the other 4 week old puppies and these were the two left and my mum just couldn't leave them living in a box in a shed. They asked my mum if she wanted to buy them otherwise they would be fed to the ferrets and of course my mum bought them. Sadly her brother died but she's still healthy and energetic 8 years on

She was my mums baby so it's really sad to think of her being rehomed but she deserves better

Thank you for your advice Smile

Given her age Oldies Club might be worth a try as well. They specifically rehome older dogs and are entirely foster home based rather than using kennels.
