We've never taken ddog abroad yet but are heading to Ireland from England/Wales in the next few weeks.

I'm completely confused about what you need, whether I need to find a vet to certify ddog at Rosslare before we get on the return ferry etc, what to ask said vet and how to find one that will process dog etc.

Can anyone help, please?

Just come back from ireland. The rules state you need a pet passport, the reality is the dog stays in the car and no one even looks at the dog, at either side.

I have travelled back and forth from Ireland hundreds of times with various dogs, no one has ever asked me anything about the dog and I have never been asked for any papers.

Technically your dog needs to have had its rabies vaccine and have a passport. If you are caught without it your dog will be quarantined. The normal worming requirements for bringing a dog back in to the country don't apply to Ireland.
