Recommendations for car cages please

I have finally persuaded DH that we are at peak grown-up-ness and therefore need a sensible and suitably adult car.
So on Friday we are picking up our shiny new (to us!) Skoda Octavia, a car that screams the onset of sensible shoes and warm cardigans
Given that our current car is somewhat less than well kempt, I am determined that this one will herald the start of my new found enthusiasm for car cleaning The biggest issue is three muddy dogs, with all the associated nose wipings and shed hairs. In the past I've used a combination of Barjo cages, factory fitted dog guards, front and rear guards and ordinary collapsible cages (not so keen on these due to the danger of crushing in an accident)
Ideally I'd like to keep half the boot for our stuff and half for the dogs (two working cockers and a small staffieXwhippet) and have an enclosed cage to trap the muck. On longer journeys DDog1 will sit happily on the back seat (wrapped in a bin bag!) in his seatbelt harness, we would only put all three in on short runs a couple of times a week.
Lintran and Trans-K9 are the makes favoured by the country set our way, but any recommendations for similar items that will not require me to sell a kidney would be greatly appreciated

With good old HamsterBaskets aka Dog-pod, we spent about £350, inc delivery, about 2 years ago. For comparison, a Trans-K9 cage to fit our car would set me back about £550 with delivery.

You have to measure your car according to Hamster Basket's form - you can phone them for advice. I was petrified I'd get it wrong, but our cage fits perfectly and doesn't rattle. It was self-assembly, but I managed it on my own. To keep the general muck off the car, we cut a bit of carpet to size for the bottom (the car also has a trunk liner), and taped builder's plastic round the thing to half-way up.

Have a look at Safedog, they do crash tested crates in a range of sizes including ones which only take up half your boot.

They're pricey but excellent. I've had mine seven years and it's still in absolutely perfect condition. I believe they hold their value pretty as well too if you happen to change car and need a different size one.

The Hamster Baskets look really good lumela but I'm determined to go for solid this time. With mesh the detritus just flies everywhere and the spaniels are generally in an appalling state after a days working
I'll definitely look at those cornflake. I think it will be easier when I actually have the car to physically look at IYSWIM?

Indeed! Hence the builder's plastic.

But we don't have spaniels... because they're too messy!

My cocker has his small crate left over from his puppy days in the back of my touran going length ways front to back fixed to the car with carabenas on the sides touching the car. I was thrilled the touran had metal loops for this. This gives me half the boot space for luggage. He's fine in here and the blankets he has seem to soak up most of the mess though he doesn't shed a huge amount
