I rescued a dog that had been abandoned and left alone for several weeks, he's toy possessive, food possessive and tries to kill anything that isn't human. When I first got him he was so neurotic he would bark at grass growing and clouds passing. We worked a lot with a trainer and he's my best mate. He's being rehomed tomorrow to a lovely family that understands his breed, has had two dogs with similar problems and have all the time in the world. Since lo has come along our walks are shorter, I rarely play with him and training has stopped, hes constantly nudging my arm for a cuddle but my hands are full with the baby. I'm sad myself but happy for him. I feel guilty like I've failed, I never thought I'd be the kind of person to rehome a dog.

It's understandable you're sad but don't feel guilty, he's going to good, experienced people who will help him and care for him. You've given him a good start but now your hands are too full to look after him properly - it happens and you're not a failure for acknowledging that x
