Dog proof bin??

The cocker spaniel is bin obsessed. Vet said my only option is a bin he can't get in to. We have a tall brabantia with a lid you pop open by pushing it gently. The spanner worked

Out the mechanism the first time he tried. Any ideas?

I had a Simplehuman bin that you could lock. I couldn't work out why you'd want to, but now I know Grin

we have a small lidded bin on the worktop, take it out when it's full.

bins are just too much temptation...for the cats as much as the dogs

I've seen the simple human was hoping for cheaper! I like the blue though

Could you add a child lock to it? Our dog used to put his head into our bin so I put a door alarm onto it. It made a loud noise whenever you opened it without pushing the button first.

Can't figure out how to link but we got the ours from amazon. If you put door alarms into amazon there are loads we bought the friedlands mini door alarms £16 for 2. You stick 1 half on the lid and the other half on the bin. You can set it as a beep like a shop door or a loud alarm.
It only took a few times of the dog sticking his head in the bin and the alarm going off before he stopped doing it.

I ended up having to put my bin in the downstairs loo!

Oh dear, my dog has opened our bin accidentally but hasn't quite twigged how he did it so after hearing these stories I am hoping he never realises how to do it repeatedly Grin

Our dog worked out how to open the lockable lids on 2 simple human dog proof bins. He's a flatcoat.
He also worked out how to open the cupboard to get to the bin when we put it under the sink. Our bin is now on top of the counter and pushed right into the corner, if we don't tuck the bag in properly he can still manage to drag it over to raid it.
He is really annoying.

Just an update. I found this item in the morrisons baby event aisle. You have to squeeze the sides to open it. It's foiled him so far and it was £3.48!

We have our bin in a cupboard and have to put something through the handles to stop our flatcoat x puppy from getting the bin. I was thinking of getting a lockable bin but after hearing about 'thecrowfrombelow's flatcoat i wonder whether its worth it!

Yep - was tempted by the simple human but not unless it's impenetrable!
