The doghouse

Wow, wasn't expecting this!

[this is a jokey thread with a real question at the end, in case anyone thinks I am intolerant of dogs' bodily functions - I'm not!]

Bit taken aback this morning when my 1-year-old Labrador (intact) humped his bed as usual and then ejaculated!

Well, all I can say is that it was everywhere and we had to mop the floors Grin. Our poor boy looked as surprised as we did and took himself off to the garden to, ahem, let things subside ;-)

Should I expect this to happen a lot now?! Anyone got any experience?

I don't know about dogs but as a teenager I had a pony who was still entire and he would ejaculate from time to time with only the aid of his imagination (possibly, although many would argue that horses don't have an imagination). It was not a pleasant job mucking out his stable Envy

Is there a reason you haven't had him 'done'? Not judging just wondering. I think I'd rather have him done than have that happen again. Confused

He's too young to be neutered. And if that's all he's doing it's not really a reason.

How is a 1 year old dog too young to be neutered you can get them done anytime after 8 weeks old. Jizzing all over the bed wouldn't be the only reason either.

Tbh if DH jizzed all over our bed I'd have him done, so a dog would definitely be off to the vets! 🤢

ineed, it's generally understood to be better to let dogs fully mature (which for a big dog is 18mo+) before you whip their nads off.

Neutering wouldn't be a guaranteed fix anyway as castrated dogs are still capable of ejaculating.

My neutered 8yo dog had his special humpy cushion that he had and there ended up being some ahem suspicious patches up on said humpy cushion... 😂

Ok I stand corrected and will gladly stick to my all female household of pets.

My lab used to do this every two or three weeks from about 18 months till he was neutered at 3 yrs. Not a reason to get him neutered early IMO.
We trained him to take his special cushion into the garden when he was feeling frisky.

Omg Grin my mil was rocking her puppy to sleep when he "wet himself but it wasn't wee, it was gooey and sticky" - she wanted to take him to the vet, thought he was ill!!! My fil didn't have the heart to tell her what had actually happened Grin

I can't offer any help because my cocker spaniel never humped anything.

Literally never!
This was quite a disappointment because I had high hopes of breeding from him but even when females were put in front of him he just wasn't interested!

I can confirm he was also not interested in male dogs 😄

I think I am almost glad now though as I would not have liked to clean that up!

My lab has never humped anything either. He's now coming up for two. He got humped once though. My baby. Shock

No guarantee it would stop the humping anyway.

The eldest female dog in the house humps my poor spaniel... The pair of them totally have it the wrong way round!

Harry usually stands there looking at me as if to say "Well are you going to do something about this?" 😂

Loving your responses! Glad I'm not alone!!!

About neutering - yes, I feel my lab is too young as although he is enormous, he isn't actually an adult yet (although clearly nearly there 😉).

My boy humps fresh air... Literally starts twerking away looking very uncomfortable. We have a command 'shake it off' as that releases the tension and let's him stop. Poor chap.
