Dh does Eric's morning walks at the weekend and then we go together in the afternoon. This is a longstanding routine that usually works unless the weather is horrendous as it is today and Eric refuses to go with dh. Instead he puts on those sad puppy dog eyes, gives the odd whine, a little lick on my hand and trots off happily with me instead Hmm What's that all about? Why do I get the pleasure of cold, wet and mud whilst dh sits with the papers?
We've done an hour, I've come back cold, wet and filthy and Eric is the same but he's content now and snuggled up in his bed. Hope it's not raining later as I'm offloading this afternoon's walk onto dh hopefully.

My dog won't go for a wee in the back garden if it's raining, never mind a walk. Can't you persuade Eric that it's not very nice walking in the rain?

Nothing dissuades him from a walk unfortunately, we do wind, rain, sleet and snow Hmm He looks like such a prissy dog so you would think he'd like to stay home whereas he is as hardy as they come and the wetter and dirtier the walk the better he likes it. He came home shivering this morning but still happy and would have gone for longer if I hadn't refused. Dh got this afternoon's walk anyway so I'm happy about that. Eric took him on a route march probably to make up for his shorter walk this morning Wink

I did the morning walk but DH did the (wet) afternoon one.......yes, I'm sure your DH has bribed Eric to get you to do the wet walks!
As an aside, you mentioned Eric was cold after the walk. We had that with the standard poodle last year when it was cold and wet. I found a doggy trouser suit on the internet, basically just a thin waterproof coat that goes down to his ankles. We've only had to use it 2 or 3 times but it's been great. (Saves a lot of drying of wet wool too!)

Mine won't go out in the rain either despite being a 'butch' type of dog. I also think your DH has trained Eric OP Shock
