My dog has had an accident 😔
(22 Posts)My dog had an awful accident yesterday. She was playing in the woods and was chased through a wire fence. The scream was hideous and when she hobbled into view I saw she had almost severed her leg. I had to wrap it in my top and carry her almost 2 miles to get her to the car. The vet thought she would lose her leg but a second consultant is now trying to save it and put an external fix on it. She is in an amazing surgery but I am still really struggling. I feel sick. I can't stop reliving it and see her leg and the blood every time I close my eyes. She could do with all the positive thoughts anyone can spare
That's awful. Wishing her a speedy recovery x
Oh no that sounds awful, poor you and your poor dog.
Hope you get some good news from the surgery soon. Hugs and

Oh how awful, what a terrible thing to happen, hope she's better soon and you're ok too, if must've been a terrible shock
Sending positive thoughts
Wishing for a full recovery. Poor little thing
Oh my God! Poor pup! Hope she (and you) recover soon xxxxxx
You have my sympathy. A few months ago our dog was chasing wildlife through the woods when he made the most awful screaming sound. He had jumped a log over a ditch but misjudged it and impaled himself on a stick/stump protruding from the log. Him was hanging off his inside back leg (I'd call it his stiffle if he was a horse), I had to lift him off........horrible. Amazingly he had only ripped the skin and not the underlying flesh, having said that we had a couple of weeks of a 'drain tube' and the collar of shame. Fingers crossed for you, they have amazing powers of recovery .
OMG, I'm so sorry. The poor darling.
Keep us updated.

Wishing your pup a speedy recovery. What an awful shock.
They are putting her under anaesthetic again today to check whether the foot is still ok, if so they will put an external frame on to allow the wound to heal before attempting to make the frame to fix the bones. A long long journey ahead but every day it's looking less awful
Poor thing! What an awful thing to happen just before Xmas. Sending all my positive thoughts to you both.

You poor thing (and poor dog). What a terrible shock.
Here's hoping she has a good outcome. Vets can do amazing things these days
You poor things. Mine did similar 18 months ago. I was very, very thankful for pet insurance (and a good reminder to renew it, thanks). Hope surgeons can help and best wishes for a good recovery.
Good luck for a speedy recovery. Hope your poor dog is ok.
I really hope you are recovering from the shock. Horrible to witness, so upsetting to see it happen to your own ddog.
I am sure ddog will be ok. Thanks to your quick actions he survived it and to your insurance to pay to put him back together
What happening with him now? Is he dping well?
What on earth was chasing him that he wa so terrified of? Shocked that there's such razor shapr wire in woods!!!! Normally just sheep fencing or chicken wire. Was this on public land? Worries for own ddogs
How are you and your DDog getting on?
Hope you have stopped reliving it and hope they managed to save her leg.
Our DDog cut his throat a few years ago when he ran into barbed wire, it was touch and go for a while but he made a full recovery.
I hate barbed wire, there is absolutely no need for it.
