Drinking the water of a water Iris?

We've recently moved into a new house and the previous owners left a Water Iris in a big pot on the patio. It's really pretty but my greyhound keeps drinking the water (I do keep calling him away when I catch him) as the pot is the perfect height for him. Is it likely to make him ill?

Irises are certainly toxic to dogs, mainly the toxins are in the bulb, but touching the plant can cause irritation so I wouldn't be happy about my dog drinking the water.

If dog is affected it will likely cause vomiting and diarrhea, not deadly but unpleasant.
