My gorgeous, treasured idiotic dog got too close to a cat yesterday and got bitten. He now has a cat bite abcess which has given him a huge lump on his face.

Took him to the vet this morning, he's had antibiotics and painkillers, managed a short easy walk and some food and is now asleep. But he's sleeping on the side of his face that has the lump. I've left him to it because I figure he's better placed to work out what's comfortable than I am, but is he likely to make the infection worse by doing that? At the moment the infection is in the tissues rather than creating a gobbet of nastiness.

I'm sure he'll be fine. As long as it's not in mud or dirt. Hope he gets better soon and has learned his lesson!
