Pomeranian Puppy Weeing on Furniture At Pet Sitters House But Not At Home

I left my older dog and my Pomeranian puppy who is 5 months with my pet sitter for the first time last night, just for one night. I rehomed the puppy around 6 weeks ago, he had been trained on pads and I have worked hard to get him using the garden, we are about 95% there and even to start with he has used the pad or garden and not been deliberately dirty in the house.

My pet sitter returned the dogs this afternoon just before we got home, and I found out from her via a text that he has repeatedly cocked his leg over her living room furniture whilst he has been at her house. She feels he was marking his territory and has been fine about it, he is hopefully being neutered before he stays over again for our summer holiday. Has anyone else had this problem and is neutering likely to help?

I did leave her some pads and asked her to put one by the back door if it was shut just in case

It can often be a sign of stress.
I once had a dog who was doing this in the home where he was before he came to me, then stopped, but started again if he went somewhere like the vets or another strange place.

Don't panic OP, I pet sit and the marking is something that all pet sitters experience with the odd male dog. If you're getting him neutered, there's a very good chance that he will stop. The difficulty with having so many dogs coming through your house, as a sitter, is that there will always be a scent of other dogs. Doesn't matter that I clean regularly and the humans can't smell it, the dogs can. I use washing powder to clean the floors and furniture, as it neutralises urine odder but there's always one wee skitter that marks a spot and that can set off, even the neutered males.

Thank you bubble2bubble stress might be an explanation, as not only has he been rehomed to me, but he was bought from Poland by his previous owners and appears from the age he is according to the vet rather than his papers to have been exported when he was only 5 or 6 weeks old.

Thank you PovertyPain that is reassuring and my pet sitter has been very kind about it. He is having a check up at the vets tomorrow as he has an undescended testicle (and possibly a slightly floppy trachea Sad) so I am hoping we can soon go ahead and get him neutered.
