Does anyone have an experience of using this site.

I've just registered as I work a full day on a Thursday and my dog walker has moved and there isn't anyone else local that I can find.

What questions and checks do you think I should make to ensure Ddog1 & 2 are in good hands. The previous dog walker was well-known and recommended locally so it wasn't an issue.-

It was a complete waste of money for me - I was hoping to borrow a dog and there were only a handful of dogs in my area and no-one even bothered replying to my messages. Wish I hadn't bothered. I hope you have more luck than me!

Oh dear pippa - that doesn't sound good.

There are several people signed up in my area to "borrow" dogs but only 1 verified but they look ideal on paper - an older couple who say they have years of dog ownership but don't want to commit full time to a new dog at present.

I haven't used it but am planning to very soon as my son is obsessed with dogs and I don't want to get one. There are loads of dogs near me so I have been spending ages going through the ads. I think that the tip to be more appealing is to use a good/ cute photo and make sure you are honest with your description

I was a borrower before we got dpup.
We took really good care of the dogs we borrowed and treated them like our own.
I have to say though that the majority of people I messaged didn't reply and some were total piss takers - eventually twe found a couple of good matches.
I'm still a member and when dpup is a bit older I might try and find someone to do a mutual holiday dog swap.

Through a combination of incidents/accidents, I find myself unable to walk my two (in SW London, if anyone is around?). I joined several days ago, but haven't subscribed yet - was hoping to have been favourited a few times before I did so.
I've read a few threads here, and it sounds like I could be wasting my money.
Anyone got any tips on what to put on my profile to show I'm serious please? Poor woofs (Cavachon & Shih Tzu) usually get walked twice a day.

I'm SW London! I'm on BMD and have met three dogs so far, one came to us the whole weekend, a Shitzu, he was brilliant.

We've had a really good experience - we needed someone to help out with our pup as being heavily pregnant with a toddler I was struggling to keep her entertained. We had a few people apply but only one couple were verified (we only wanted verified people) . We met up for a coffee and a chat and felt confident that we would trust them with our dog. We have now actually become good friends, and meet up regularly without the dog! They also walk the dog and have her for some weekends. There are so many people who would love a dog to walk but can't have their own so I think it's a great idea.

I started this thread and did sign up - it had been a complete waste of money. No responses even from the "verified" borrowers. I am starting a new job in September and am desperate for a dog walker (more than happy to pay)- there is a definite gap in the market in my area.

Has your area got any local Facebook groups where people advertise? There are always dog walkers advertising on ours. Also look on the postcards on the wall in your local pet shop for adverts, hope you find someone!

To be fair I do go really long periods of time without getting any messages, but I think you have to be a bit patient. I am verified and I look after two dogs at work anyway so I do have lots of Doggy experience. We met a dog a few weeks back who's owner just wanted to build up a bank of a couple of people she could trust with the dog if she ever needed to go away on an emergency visit to her very elderly mum. She hasn't called on us yet but asked us if we wanted to take the dog out this weekend just for fun, can't wait!
