How to entertain the dog fresh out of surgery?

She had a spay yesterday, she is very whiny.
I don't think it's out of pain however, I think she is frustrated and bored because she keeps bringing me toy after toy and I'm not playing.
The vet told me not to let her run or jump...

She is fine without a walk but she does spend an hour or two bombing round playing with her toys on those days.
Which she obviously can't do.

Sometimes I do some training or mental games with her but she tends to put her all in and bounce from command to command and race like a mad woman when I ask her to say find a treat I've hidden or retrieve an item.
So I guess that's out too.

Her walk later is meant to be 10 minutes and gentle.

A Snuffle Mat.
Hide wet food like ham in it and leave for 15 minutes before putting it down. The more you use it the harder it gets as all the scents work into the fabric.
You can buy one or make it with a £5 mat from Homebase and a load of fleece strips.

Puzzle toys, cardboard boxes to shred?

That snuffle mat is a brilliant idea! I'm going to have to figure out how to make one.

Can you teach her tricks like cross paws? Tricks that don't involve much moving?

Plenty of instructions online Deadnettle. Homebase do a heavy rubber mat with holes which is perfect for the base.
I won mine in a raffle though.
