This is Bernard . Bernard is 6 months old and the size of a small horse . And yes he's a puppy but he's also a total dick. He pulls everything off the work tops , he reacts really manically to other dogs when on the lead, he chews everything he finds, we're not stupid we understand puppies are puppies but holy shit he is hard god damn work , and he's bright white. Who . Buys. A. White. Dog . HmmConfusedSad
Just wanted to moan and see if we are alone in this .

I seem to remember I hated both my dogs when they were about 6 months old. They were a total PITA. He looks lovely though tbf

We have a pure black labrador/German Shepherd mix puppy who thinks she is the same size as our runt of a jack russell puppy Grin
Bloody idiot tries to sit in your lap, jump up for cuddles, chews everything that is left unsupervised and thinks the leash is for losers!
And she's 9 months old. I keep telling myself she'll grow out of it! Shock

My friend has a very similar dog! (GSD cross Husky)
Bloody git he was at that age, but there is hope, 2 years and much training later, he is a brilliant dog, with a fantastic temprament, gentle with kids etc etc.
Though he only has to look at mud and he's coated in it, white dogs seem to be mud magnets, sorry!
Hang in there Smile

He is beautiful btw

I have a 3-year old beagle. He's a total dickhead. But much better than he was as a pup. Hang in there.

Our Goldie is a total pillock but his ears smell lovely ( unless ha been in the pond)
He is 5 months now and I'm starting to like him, but when he hits puberty I will probably go off him again .

My friend has a St Bernard puppy,he's a nightmare he thinks he's a lap dog. I daren't sit down at their house now because he comes running through to jump on my lap all 14 stone of hair and slobber. Standing isn't much better either because he either tries to put his front paws on your shoulders or leans on you until he's got you pinned against a wall. He does look beautiful though and df swears he's getting better. Don't big dogs mature at about two years old?

No, but your title made me laugh, Bernard is gorgeous!

Yep, just typical for a 6 month old. I have a black labraheeler ( Labrador blue heeled cross) 9 months old and an absolute Muppet. 5 to 6 months old was worse though. Has your pup spent time with other dogs and been properly socialised? Our twit improved once his jewels had been chopped off and started obedience training. But then he started eat I g the weather boards on the house ..... sigh. So, he goes to doggy day care. Best investment ever, it really improved his behaviour. He comes home tried and bidable every day and our wooden house is no longer being eaten.

Bonkers idiot, but we all love him really

That's helpful actually he has completed basic training how? and ironically is great there. I hear that two years they are better may have killed him before then and yes to all those saying he thinks he's. Lap dog. We have a shelter too and Bernard just does not realise his size! His tail can clear a table! And he is a lovely temperament really not aggressive just like tigger.
We were considering doggy day care a couple of days a week as he's chewing my stairs and working his way up, ladder anyone? so maybe that will help.
So glad I'm not alone I feared we'd picked the dud. BlushAngryWine

My 10 month old lab is a dick too. He isn't as much of a dick as he was when he was younger but yeah, he's still a dick.
He's grown on us all though and even though he's destroyed the house we kind of like him.

They behave well at puppy classes just to piss you off. My beagle aced his. He knows all his basic commands. Sit, lie, wait, leave, heel, come. All of them. He can sit and lie and stop at a distance and all sorts in a classroom. Outdoors? Fuck off. Leave that loaf of bread I've just stolen from the kitchen side? Fuck off. Stop jumping up onto the side to see what I can steal? Fuck off.

He's very handsome though.

Ha! My (now 2 1/2 old) is a complete twat at times. Between 6 months and 2 years old I thought I had made the worst mistake of my life. In the last 3 months she is beginning to be more as I wanted her to be, but holy fuck it has been hard work and even now she needs to be managed very closely when on a walk. Tbh, this site didn't help as it was full of advice about 'if they don't have 100% recall they shouldn't be off the lead' which made me feel like shit and meant she didn't get enough exercise. She still doesn't have 100% recall, she is a lab and water or food can make her go deaf but she is a damn site better than most dogs I see out! Hang in there, it gets better one way or another !

Ugh, 6 months is like the terrible twos for dogs! My old gsd was awful at that age and didn't really calm down until she was about 2! I have an 8 month old tiny dog now and he doesn't seem to have hit this stage yet, wonder if it comes a bit later in small dogs.

Let me introduce you to the biggest dickhead of all!! Rare breed of pure mongrel. Jumps fence into neighbours garden just to dig up and eat the cat poo. Thinks she can take on all horses coz she's well ard. And has decided my mother is the only scary human being she has met and must be snarled at (everyone else gets cuddles whether they want it or not)!!

I have a tiny seven month old puppy who is a total pain in the arse! She rips paper off the walls of the living room and kitchen. She makes me chase her round the garden to get her in and managed to get out once and I chased her up and down the street for twenty minutes bare foot and bra less in my pj's. Luring me in by stopping till I got close to her then bolting. She rips up toilet roll, paper, cardboard if she can get her teeth on it. She chews the kids toys. She shits and pisses occasionally in the house. She wakes us up at half six in the morning barking.

BUT, she's the cutest, most loving, playful wee bugger and we can't help loving her!

So rest assured it's not just big dogs that are dick heads! I sent her to my mums yesterday because she kept barking every time my son fell asleep and he is ill. Then the neighbours were having an easter egg hunt and she ran up and down the garden barking the whole time with me chasing her to try bring her in. So she got banished!

He's lovely! Our big pointer puppy is now 18 months and tbh hasn't been too much of a dickhead generally and is pretty chilled out these days. However, he was a nightmare about being left on his own at night for ages and used to wee in excitement every time anyone (including us Hmm ) arrived at the house. He has only very recently stopped doing this mostly.

Mines a medium but still a massive knobhead. He's actually been very good the past couple of weeks and he's 6 months, is he lulling me in to a false sense of security? He's been a pain since we got him and we've thought loads of times of rehoming, but then we look in his little eyes and melt.

I'm going to get mine done in the next few weeks, hopefully that will chill him out a bit. He won't stop humping everything. Poor bugger, must be so frustrating.

Yes I have a giant puppy - about 27kg of pure excitable idiocy. He's destroyed everything including my sanity and he loves to stand on your feet and rest all his body weight on you. He is also the most loyal creature ever and I love him.
