Hi

What do you use and does it work? Can't really afford expensive stuff but need to get something.

Thank you

Best option would be go talk to your vet/vet nurse, most practices offer free advice on parasite treatment, and they will be familiar with the problems in your area e.g. How much of a problem are ticks and lungworms where you are?
However, based on budget flea treatment...I would suggest a Seresto collar, which is prescription only but one collar lasts 8 months and it covers both fleas and ticks. Caveat is you can't really use it if dog swims ( less effective and potentially contaminates waterways)
Other option is monthly Advantage, non prescription imidacloprid spot on, but covers fleas only.
Avoid fipronil spot on, just doesn't work, and I would also avoid cheap permethrin spot ones if your dog has any contact at all with cats.

Bravecto every three months and yes, it does work. If you have a dog with fleas though then you need to treat the house and the dog.

Bravecto is £15-20 per tablet plus prescription fee. Seresto is the same price for 8 months flea and tick control rather than three.

I'm using Billy No Mates this year as I raw feed and only give them natural treats so trying to stay away from chemicals. Will see how it goes now weather will (hopefully) start to get warmer.

Hello

Thank you. I have seen no fleas on him or the cat but I have been bitten on the ankle and I'm sure it's a flea bite!

I have been recommended frontline but when I looked online a lot of people are saying it doesn't work anymore. Also seen advantage for sale? But I haven't heard anything about it.

Yourbubz that's interesting. Would love to know how you get on. I'm a bit surprised that I'm having to treat him so soon as it's not got that much warmer where I live.

Great advice everyone Thank you Smile

I've heard of Frontline not being effective too. The only thing with the Billy No Mates is you need to feed it every day which is all very well if you can remember!
