Would like to share my beautiful GR at 8 weeks old and now on his 1st birthday ...he was hard work to begin with and has taken a lot of training but he is now a wonderful dog and brings pure joy to us all smile grin

Oh wow, he is beautiful! What a stunning boy!

Hoolit Tue 23-Feb-16 20:58:56

Oh he's gorgeous. He's sitting there very grown up!

jigster01 Tue 23-Feb-16 21:04:50

Yes ! I had to share ..he is so beautiful in that photo (and real life )!! We have never had a dog before ..I cannot believe the love I have for him ..

I just had butterflies in my tummy - what an angel xx

He is beautiful. Looks very imperious up there on his throne wink. We have a Goldie boy and he's getting on but still so handsome. He's not allowed on the furniture though.... far too big and hairy !

jigster01 Tue 23-Feb-16 21:31:33

When we got him we said no going on furniture!! ....we had to keep to that for a while until he knew his place as he was very dominant in the beginning and tried to rule us all ..my ds has trained him very well

TheoriginalLEM Tue 23-Feb-16 21:32:47

magnificent. i love him.

Wolfiefan Tue 23-Feb-16 21:33:00

That face. So gorgeous.
Dominant though? You do know that theory has been discredited?

MargotLovedTom Tue 23-Feb-16 21:41:27

Here's our boy in his favourite place. At least this water was clean, unlike the mud baths he generally favours.

jigster01 Tue 23-Feb-16 21:52:38

Thank goodness for wooden floors ...This is a daily occurrence !!!

jigster01 Tue 23-Feb-16 21:59:37

Is he a puppy Margot? He has a beautiful face as well

Hoppinggreen Wed 24-Feb-16 07:31:11

I don't know whether dominance theory is right or not but I do know that our GR became mich less stroppy when he was banned from the sofa.
Anyway, here he is

WhoaCadburys Wed 24-Feb-16 08:02:36

He is gorgeous.

Dominance theory has been disproved, but maybe OP means confident/boisterous? We have one of those - you have given me hope OP.

jigster01 Wed 24-Feb-16 18:15:16

Well he was definately very very confident. ..use to get very angry and growl when we told him to get off furniture, not to chew things he shouldn't etc . He was spoilt when he was a puppy and we were told he was treated like a prince and so thought he was one ! It was our fault really. He had to be reminded who was the leader of the pack .
It was a lot of work as there are 6 of us in the house and we all have to do training and be consistent. He is now so so good .He will now get off furniture if we tell him to without a peep !

TheFlyingFauxPas Wed 24-Feb-16 19:04:45

He is a stunner Jig. happy birthday to him 😊 we're trying not to let our new dog (adult) on settees as he too gets well growly when I try to get him off. I think it's too confusing for him thinking everywhere's his.

Thanks jigster. No he's definitely not a puppy - he's nearly 11! He was 9 on that photo I posted; he's obviously for good genes because he still looks very young wink. The muddy picture is a very familiar sight in this house as well.

HoppingGreen yours is beautiful too. I just love Goldies; they are like big teddy bears.

MargotLovedTom Thu 25-Feb-16 11:21:18

got good genes

A belated Happy Birthday to your lovely-looking fellow.

He looks amazing, and I have serious Dog Envy grin

Helgathehairy Sat 27-Feb-16 20:23:58

As we're sharing pics my boy knows his place.

Helgathehairy Sat 27-Feb-16 20:25:21

Jig wow he is beautiful!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints Tue 01-Mar-16 16:04:57

Gorgeous! They're a wonderful breed.

This is my MILs old GR about 12 months before he died with my eldest DC (who's now almost 6). My DH had sat her on the sofa & he got up next to her just as she was falling asleep. He was amazing.

Lovely dog.

Dominance/packs/ knowing place/leader of pack - all discarded theories and quite wrong really. cesar Milan it's your fault to keep going on about these

Notthecarwashagain Thu 03-Mar-16 08:04:00

Ooh loved seeing all these pics of your beautiful GRs, as has DS.
We have a puppy and you've given him something to look forward to- he's not really enjoying the puppy bit, and just wants him to be big and (hopefully) calm (

I'm just going to sneak this pic of ours on too grin

Notthecarwashagain Thu 03-Mar-16 08:05:00

(ish) that was meant to be!
