Pet Plan - how much do you pay ?

I was quoted 30 £ per month for a 2.5 labrador for a life time cover and I'm happy with the price but how much will I pay when she gets older ? Does anyone know?

I'm paying 32.00 per month for my 5 year old lab on pet plan for life time cover.

He's been on the same plan since 8 weeks old and thankfully we've never had reason to claim yet.

I was quoted £34pcm for my collie. I've got exactly the same insurance, Ts and Cs from Marks and Sparks for half the price. I was surprised at how much Pet Plan was.

Went with them as I know my vet will deal direct as they quibble far less

I think i paid about 28.00 in the beginning but i've been surprised how little its gone up.

£65 for a 9 year old bitch , no claims ever either!
That is supreme cover for life and when she was a pup it was £21 per month

To add my dog is large breed pedigree though, so might affect premiums

We started paying £34 pm in 2004 for our Staffie pup.

We paid this until 2011 (dog was 7yo) as we were struggling financially and this was a good way to save money, especially as we had never claimed. We'd spent around £2,800 over the years and never claimed.

Dear old thing needed an emergency, life-saving operation last year (aged 10yo) which cost £650. That seems a lot to stump-up in one go, but when we figured it out, it was only a small percentage of pet insurance (more so if we'd paid up to 2014).

I'm not sure what I think of pet insurance anymore. On the one hand, it provides security, and if we had a dog prone to certain conditions, or if our own dog needed medicine in the long-term, it would certainly be worth it. However, my inclination for my Staffie, is that I'd rather have a lot of savings which I dip into when necessary. There are so may caveats with pet insurance; you're at their whim of approval. I don't know if they cover euthanasia and burial/cremation. Obviously, our dog had a significant health scare, she's old and in her twilight years so these things are important too, to me now. I just don't know how I feel.

I went off on one then, sorry! The cover didn't change for 6 years. It went up by £2 pm in 2011 (her 7th year when dogs are considered "senior", I think). We cancelled our premium within that year.

I had been with M & S pet insurance for 10 years, but had to give it up this year due to a monthly payments of £250. My dog was diagnosed as diabetic, four years ago and also had to have a cataract operation due to the diabetes. We have had to make some large claims. I do feel that there should be a maximum limit to the premiums, that are set out when you first start your insurance. So be careful as they can just price you out of the market if you have to make large claims.

I was paying £48 a month for my 13 year old golden retriever at his last renewal. Pet Plan, however, were paying out much more per month to cover all the meds he was on for the last 18 months of his life.

£29 a month from the start for lab puppy. He's not one yet so we haven't seen any increases yet.

I've never heard anything bad about Pet Plan. And unlike other insurers, the vets can invoice them directly, rather than you have to fork out and try and claim it back.

Vets can invoice any insurance company directly...mostly though they are only willing to do that with petplan.

When my previous dog turned 8 his insurance rocketed and went on rising fast every year, despite no claims. 8 is only half the life expectancy for many breeds.
Now we have a mixed breed pup and his insurance is just under £20 per month.

Again pet plan have refused to payout it's just a joke....they don't care about anyone's animal it's just money making scam....which I must add some of the vets are apart of....they make money from insurances adding more investigations to the treatments warning more and more money...home.

£77 a month for a 12 year old spaniel. But we have claimed thousands from them over the years and they’ve always paid up without fuss.
