Fill a muffin tray with twelve balls...

Someone told me to make an easy 'puzzle' toy for my dog would be to fill a muffin tin with balls with treats hidden underneath. I have a lot of work today, and always feel bad when Ddog doesn't get the desired attention he wants, so I tried this out this morning.

I think he had a great time! Although spent half the time digging at the floor around the tray, thinking he could burrow under the ball to get the treat? Who knows. Didn't get much work done, it only took up his attention for about 15 mins and I was so engrossed with what he was doing.

Any other 'puzzle' type toy ideas I can make myself to entertain him?

Stanley and I haven't tried this but I've heard that putting a few treats in an empty cereal box and closing the lids with the tabs is entertaining for a little while.

yes, and it should be soft smelly, treats such as hot dog or chicken to really get them going!

Cut a cross in a tennis ball and pop a treat inside for the dog to get out.

Similar to muffin tray is to put empty loo rolls (maybe cut in half) into a bowl and put treats in the bottom of each loo roll.

Wrap a water bottle in a t shirt - most dogs like chewing and squeezing the bottle inside.

Some dogs also love bobbin for apples. But not great for the winter a better summer game in the garden

If you dog like pulling toys apart a holee ball stuffed with treat and material seems to keep them quiet for a while.

Takes a bit of effort to make but a plastic bottle either on a stick or a piece of rope which has treats in it. The dog has to push the bottle upside down to get the treats out

Put holes in a cereal packet and put a few treats in it let the dog get the treats out.

Re the muffin game I am not sure which of my dogs is more intelligent.

The collies sniff out the ball with the treat under it and carefully remove the ball and eat the treat. Game can take several minutes.

My lab picks up the tin by the corner and tips all the balls and treats out in one go and then quickly eats them all. 3 secs game is over Smile
