Paying for puppy

We have found a puppy that fits what we want and went to see it yesterday.
Was happy wth the set up, saw mother, KC reg, other puppies, vet report etc and paid a deposit. The puppies are about 45 minutes from us so I could take the balance in cash before we collect him on 28th December or on that day but I am now thinking that a bank transfer mght be better.
I have had a receipt for the deposit and will be getting one for the balance but I think that in case of anything going wrong ( no reason to think it might) I have more evidence of payment.
The lady has given me her bank details and said she doesn't mind either way but due to Xmas etc I will need to make the payment tomorrow or weds at the latest so I was wondering what you all think and how other people paid for their dogs.
Also, just in case anyone wants to suggest I shouldn't be paying for a puppy but getting a rescue I did try that several times and have even posted on here about it a couple of times.

Last puppy we bought they asked for bank transfer.
I was happier taking cash when we collected her. I wouldn't feel happy paying in full before collecting a puppy.

Even if you pay in cash, you should be able to get a receipt

We paid the deposit and the balance in cash and the breeder gave me a signed receipt each time.

Agree, cash. Definitely pay the balance when you pick up the puppy, not a day before.

I would pay in cash when I pick up the pup and get a receipt. You'd then have the pup, the advert and two receipts as proof.
The pups DNA can be used as evidence if you need to, but nothing about this transaction is ringing any alarm bells.

We paid the deposit via PayPal and the balance cash on collection. Received a signed receipt. I wouldn't want to pay the full amount before picking up the pup!

Thank you all.
I have told the lady we will bring cash when we collect him and she has said we can do whatever we feel most comfortable with.
Now just need to buy loads of crap we probably don't need and try and contain my excitement for a whole week!!!
Photos to follow I promise
