Greetings from a pathetic family that cannot seem to settle on a dog name. Details: male 8 month old smooth collie, given to us from a breeder going out of breeding, so not a rescue per se. Lovely, sweet, great with the bossy 3 year old kidlet and all others. Came with the name Quinn, but it didn't really resonate for us. Currently he is called "Baby Dog" by the kidlet as we have an older dog, Annie. We've tried on a lot of names, but none stick: Archie, Angus, Happy, Dingus, Dog, Diggity, Stevedore, Butkus, Clyde, Dougal, the list is pretty long, we are out of ideas. We don't mind baby dog, but it's a bit confusing because this is also the name for the kidlet's stuffed animal dog. It's also not a name I really want on his tags, wish I need to get made soon.

All suggestions welcome!

How about Buddy? Not too dissimilar to Baby Dog...!?

We do call him Buddy, but I also call my son, the bigot kids and the goat Buddy!

Round our way all of the collies seem to be called Buddy!

What does your new pup look like LittleFeileFooFoo? Is he a classic black and tan, or black and white or tan and white? Or grey maybe? Big and shaggy or slight and smooth coated? Collies come in a nice variety of shapes and sizes :)

Our family collie dog was called Yorick (my sister was doing Hamlet). His brother was Bob Grin

He's black and white with a bit of tan at the edges. He's not shaggy bit a glossy smooth, and just a lovely dog. His big problem is he loves to eat tissue, which in the big scene is pretty minor, but it's incredibly annoying when he is constantly stealing the loo roll!

I like Yoric, but he's really more of a Guildenstern,I reckon.

Possibly that's a bit too long, but I really like slightly wacky names for pets :)

I just named a new pup Hector.

Seems to one of those Marmite names though - I love it and think it suits him but some people have looked at me rather strangely ....

Ooh, I can't name him Hector, add much as I like it, it's the name of a not so nice politician here!

Nooka, I also like long names, I used to have a dog named Konrad de Poopjes. He didn't have a pedigree, just a nice name

Have you chosen one yet?

Sadly we can't agree, dh just doesn't "feel" any of them. He also wants to change ds middle name now, so maybe the problem is his lack of commitment! Both the dog and our son have about 20 nicknames, so it's possible my some doesn't actually know which is his real name!

The dog pretty much answers to anything.
