Can I give my dog a cooked lamb bone?

Just that really. I've a large lamb shoulder bone and I'm wondering if it's ok to give to him to chew or if it's like cooked chicken bone - a big no no

No, it could splinter in his throat. A raw one would be fine.

We've just given our lamb bone to the cats. It still had a lot to chew on it.

They looked appalled and stalked off. They are so spoiled though I guess they were expecting a napkin a plate and a glass of wine.

Good point about cooked bones splintering though, so probably for the best.

One of our dogs died from a bone splinter in his throat. I was only a young teenager at the time but never forget the horror of it. The bone was from the butchers and it was for his birthday. I would never risk it.

I always understood that raw bones (of the right size and shape) were OK but never cooked bones
