15 week old pup with a bad stomach

Any ideas on how to settle a 15 week old lurcher pup's stomach? I got him 4 weeks ago from a rescue centre, he's had diarrhea pretty much constantly since then. I've taken him off the Wainwrights he was being fed on; tried a week of chicken and rice, then got some tinned Chappie, which he's been on for the last week. Occasionally his poos are semi-solid, but most of the time they're just liquid. Anyone had any experience of this? Is there anything I can do, or is it time to admit defeat and take him to the vets? He's putting on weight, and is definitely growing; has crazy puppy energy and seems happy and comfortable in himself. He's drinking plenty to make up the fluids he'll be losing in the diarrhea.

I have zoolac in the house (like prokolin) which I haven't given him, but it's something I'm considering; it's just a probiotic so won't harm him. Likewise, is it worth getting some slippery elm bark powder?

Unfortunately going to raw food isn't something I can do now. In a couple of months I might be able to look into it, but at the moment it's not possible.

If he seems well, no blood in poo and not being sick, I'd cut down on his food a bit before seeing vet, and see if that firms things up. Over-feeding can cause diarrhoea and some dogs need less than it says on the tin.

Thanks ender, he does seem very well in of himself; is definitely growing, plays with my older dog (who is showing no symptoms of dodgy tummy yet ), races around like an utter lunatic. There's been no sick except for twice on a long car ride, but he was also sick in the car when we picked him up, and has never been sick anywhere else, so I think that's more a travel thing than anything actually wrong with him.

He does wolf down the Chappie; he's currently about 9kg, and getting two of the small tins a day, split out into 4 meals. I will reduce this to 1 1/2 tins for a couple of days; it's all a bit of guess work, not knowing quite what lurcher mix he is, and so not knowing how big he's going to be. I might very well have overestimated his final size.
