DD is getting
A cake shaped like her
A toy box customised with her name
A luxury leather collar from etsy
A zippy bed personalised with her name
Several toys including a tuffy dinosaur
and A birthday dinner of roast chicken rice and vegetables
DH thinks im mad but we don't have DC and she is like a child to me at times

whatlifestylechoice Tue 28-Apr-15 22:48:08

No, I would not. HTH. grin

I agree with your DH.

PacificDogwood Tue 28-Apr-15 22:48:10

No, I would not, not in a million years.
But it is of course entirely up to you if you can afford to do this and don't want to spend this money otherwise.

ladydepp Tue 28-Apr-15 22:49:42

Um, no.

But I give my ddog a kiss and wish her a happy birthday....and maybe a piece of cheese smile

MissBattleaxe Tue 28-Apr-15 22:51:56

You are a crazy soppy lunatic, but it's your money and you're not exactly committing a crime. But don't tell your dog about this thread or you will spoil the surprise for her.

myusernameisusername Tue 28-Apr-15 22:56:40

grin it makes me happy we can't have children of our own and she really is our baby even if we do step back and treat her like an animal at times

PacificDogwood Tue 28-Apr-15 23:02:28

Look, I really don't mean to be a sanctimonious bitch on a Doghouse thread but consider cutting down a wee bit on your list of gifts and consider donating something for these children
Your Ddog will never know the difference, honest.
I am sure she knows she is much loved.

myusernameisusername Tue 28-Apr-15 23:48:09

Yes because i want to donate money to some CEO of unicef or fund another advert asking for more money hmm I'll donate to those charities when the money actually goes to the right places biscuit

myusernameisusername Tue 28-Apr-15 23:48:44

i will however also make a donation to the local dog shelter on her behalf too

PacificDogwood Tue 28-Apr-15 23:48:59

Fair enough.

ThatBloodyWoman Tue 28-Apr-15 23:56:24

He's a dog.

stareatthetvscreen Wed 29-Apr-15 00:15:42

we didn't do presents but always a cake and don't forget to sing happy birthday too smile

MollyAir Wed 29-Apr-15 00:26:03

Ddog is definitely entitled to all those things, in his opinion. He got a loverly parka for Xmas. I will be giving him a lavish birthday party. So no, Yanbu. Make the world a better place, and make sure you post the pix on here. smile thanks

judydoes Wed 29-Apr-15 00:32:28

I adore my dogs but I don't even know their birthdays!

They're both rescues though so that's my excuse

myusernameisusername Wed 29-Apr-15 00:54:48

their birthday is the day you got them then smile

Eric got toys and a new bed on his birthday and he had steak and a fresh bone to eat. (Christmas Eve) He got more toys and a stocking at Christmas too. He's part of our family and so gets treated like the rest of them do really. We couldn't have bought him a cake or he'd have wanted to eat it though. I think it's quite sweet really.

moosemama Wed 29-Apr-15 10:18:01

My dcs like to give our dogs a new toy each on their birthday - or gotcha day for rescues, but other than that we don't do anything special. The present has to be wrapped up too, because the dogs love to shred the paper. This is all the dcs though, my role is merely to pay for the toy! grin

They get a present each at Christmas too.

stareatthetvscreen Wed 29-Apr-15 14:16:16

you make a special dog cake insanity - like on blue peter smile

OttiliaVonBCup Wed 29-Apr-15 14:19:09

DDog gets extra treats and birthday kisses and we have some bubbly.

No toys or presents though.

pinkje Wed 29-Apr-15 14:48:35

Ours got her spaying operation - does that count as a gift?

( she did get some new squeak toys for Xmas which was 4 weeks later )

FurryDogMother Wed 29-Apr-15 14:52:29

Sounds perfectly reasonable to me - speaking as someone who couldn't fit any clothes in their suitcase last time they travelled, 'cos I had too many dog treats packed smile

LokiBuddyBoo1 Wed 29-Apr-15 17:02:51

On my ddog first birthday I made dog pup cakes and threw a doggy party all family's dogs came. Dogs had great time running around together and we had a BBQ.
Dogs even got sausages and burgers too.
Ddog also had plenty of presents I even got him a card from moonpig.
He's my fur baby and part of the family he deserves a great birthday too.
So I don't think it's strange to spoil your dog and celebrate its birthday.

myusernameisusername Wed 29-Apr-15 17:16:31

im having it made from pound cake with a light cream filling so she is allowed a tiny sliver of it grin and yes she is getting pet insurance and spaying in November too.

GobblersKnob Thu 30-Apr-15 07:28:38

I spoil mine ridiculously, if it makes you happy then go ahead smile
