Well, I tried my dog on the jelly meat, she loves it

Her taste isn't exactly refined though as she has a penchant for dirty nappies (that I forgot very occasionally to put straight outside)

She was on Butchers tins prior to that.

I don't but mine has the digestion of a nervous Victorian lady in a brothel, but my friend feeds hers on their pate style foil trays and he seems healthy, glossy and has fairly firm poops.

I know someone who keeps their dog on that and whilst it looks OK (the dog, I've never seen the food but the owner told me about it), I noticed the dog looks a bit small and scrawny for its breed. I suspect it might have done better on a food that's a bit more nutritious. I know she can barely afford to keep a dog, as it is, so it's probably Aldi's or nothing - she loves her dog and it's a lovely dog. But I have often looked at it and wondered if it wouldn't have put a bit more bulk on (not fat, just... looked a bit less puny) if it had a better food? My cats are totally unfussy and have had the cat food from there and have done fine on it but they're elderly and don't really do much all day! They prefer Felix, though!

Look on that allaboutdogfood website, it's really good, it'll tell you how nutritious it is and rate it.

It's 57p/kg. What do you think the quality is like?

First ingredient cereals, followed by meat and animal derivatives, with a whole 4% of chicken in the chicken variety.....

Think I'll switch her off it onto pedigree then onto raw meat and home cooked food Smile was pricing up the skinners/naturediet mix and it's £50 a month Shock cheaper to cook for her and know what's in it

My jack Russell loves the pate but not the tinned stuff. My dog is very health & happy. Our vet has never had an issues of the way we care for her.

Chappie is often recommended by vets. Each dog is different, you might find its trial & error.

Pedigree is awful too.

Aldi dog food turned my dogs poo white.

I buy Costco dog food. It's a good food and only £24 for a huge bag. First ingredient is meat.

friends dog had a terrible skin condition, he fur looked dull and dry, but since she been giving him Aldi dog food (tinned) his skin is healthy and now has a shiny glossy coat :)

Is it 'Orlando'? The same as Lidl. If so, it did something really weird to his bum. He kept trumping and though he is perfectly trained, almost every day he would let a little nugget of the dryest poo I've ever seen.

skinners is pretty cheap. I have two dogs and a bag lasts about a month. I've not tried the Aldi dog food but my cat likes the pouches and the pate style cat food. Only fishy ones though.

What breed? My lurcher has Dr John working dog food (VAT free) silver (18% protein). £12 for a huge bag that lasts 6 weeks.
I mix it with a couple of tablespoons of Sainsburys tinned dog food and some hot water, and he gollops it down.
For a lovely shiny coat add a tablespoon of sunflower oil to his tea now and again.

She is an American Bull Terrier crossed with something else i priced it up and Skinners/naturediet is only £136 for 3 months worth from amazon not actually that bad the reason im dithering over her diet so much is because i watched a tv documentation called "the truth about your dogs food" hence the natural healthy approach

Not that bad? I think I pay 30/40 quid over 3 months for my dog. And he should be grateful for that Wink

My lab has a really delicate stomach and the only foods he can digest without consequence are the lidls or aldi own brand or costco own brand which is £7-8 for a sack.

Anything else really just goes through him. In an emergency he can eat sainsburys own brand.

Tallulah what do you feed for that price Shock skinners is £16 per sack and naturediet is £16 for 18 packs

Depends. Sometimes it's wagg (mostly wAgg) my mum got the biggest bag I've ever seen (17kg I think but double the normal ones so prob 20/22) for really cheap from Costco or similar tho I just go to Tesco.

We changed to Orlando at Lidl but after a few months we got the poo issue so trying new things as it seems he's more sensitive now.

Just Tesco stuff seems fine for him but the little bags don't last long enough.

What do you pay?

He's a rottie but he's small. He also has full access to the bag whenever he wants. Terrible I know...

Pedigree chum will give her "chum bum" be warned!!

We tried our rescue on many fantastic expensive dog foods she ate none of them, turned her nose up, we have now settled on barking heads with tinned pedigree chum in gravy mixed in, she much prefers what ever we are eating or something out the bin.
