Attacked for the second time.

My dogs were attacked for the second time in a month by the same dogs( they were a white boxer and some kind of mastiff)
Both cases, mine were on lead and they came rushing over and started attacking my dogs. One of my dogs can be yappy but they were on lead and were nowhere near them. The couple couldn't control the mastiff, the guy was hitting and kicking it ... In the whole scruffle I got knocked to the ground. It must have been pinning and biting for a couple of minute which seemed like forever before the mastiff backed of. Then she said in a blaming kind of way, it's the way your dogs bark that causes it. But sorry, it doesn't matter if they bark or not. You don't let yr dogs approach and attack other dogs. And plus the fact you were kicking and hitting your dog and still couldn't control it. They didn't even ask if my dogs were alright but simply left. I was checking mine all over for puncture wounds but luckily none but they were limping a little. Luckily, another dog worker came by and knew these ppl. Just deciding whether to call the warden or drop a warning note to them to keep their dogs under control.

Warden ASAP. People like this make life harder for good, responsible owners by turning public opinion against dogs. Furthermore, if you don't report it and someone or their pet gets hurt, you'll never forgive yourself. It's clear from what you've said that they have no grasp of responsible dog ownership.

From what I heard from the other dog walker, they have four dogs and only ever walk two at a time. And one of them had to have a finger amputated as she/he was trying to seperate their dogs in a fight and the hospital couldn't save it.

Considering they make you fall, I agree that you should notify the police. It may seem trivial, but perhaps there are other complaints, that are not attended to because they were "one offs".

I really don't get some people. I know a couple, very decent intelligent people, who have a staff is like dog, she has killed 2 dogs in the neighbourhood but, when visited by police, found it ridiculous, because "that's what dogs do" and "she only goes for female dogs".

Oh, and they leave their toddler and baby around the dog, because "she is so good with kids"

Please, please tell me if I have misunderstood.... You were walking your dogs on lead when 2 big dogs came rushing over, upsetting your dogs and knocking you over, and you were blamed for it? That sounds very much as though the other people are out of control and looking for a fight. Report, please!

Yes. Mine two were on lead. They spotted their dogs from a distance and one of mine can be yappy. But still, barking or no barking, you don't let your dogs approach others and attack them. The guy was hitting and kicking the mastiff. It still wouldn't back off. And when it finally did. I was made to feel it was my dog that caused it.

Going to the Police station this evening. I was walking the dogs alone. What if I had a child with me!

Oh my god. hope you and pooches are ok.we have a staffy cross and he is torally hyper jumps on other dogs and never barks or bites. But if we see other dogs on leads we either put our dog on his lead or get his attention so he doesnt bother. (More often than not he gets the lead) i know people have a bad perception of staffs so we rry to keep our under control as much as possible. I certainly would never blame someone if their dog is on a lead.

Will keep an eye on them over the next few days. The little one is only 8kg and other one twice that. But nothing compared to the size of this mastiff. Just found out that one of the owners is an ex of a neighbour.

Hope you and your dogs are okay. That must have been so frightening. Glad to hear you're reporting it to police, although I would still report separately to the dog warden as police won't be any help re dog on dog attacks. And as pp said don't send a note to the dog owners yourself, they don't sound like approachable kind of people

Irresponsible owners drive me nuts. Walking in the street with my small dog a couple of days ago, up ahead little boy holding the lead of large greyhound. As we got nearer mother (I'm assuming it was mother) looks up from phone and sees us approaching, she takes the lead from the child just as the greyhound starts pulling a lunging towards my dog who is pulling in the other direction as she's had her fill of large aggressive dogs.

The woman was struggling with the dog - hate to think what would have happened to little boy and my dog if she hadn't looked up at that moment - and wrapping the lead round and round her hand in an effort to keep her dog close to her.

I have no problem with lunging dogs who are on the lead and under control but if you know your dog is going to lunge at other dogs why would you let a small boy hold the lead in a busy street in a town with a high dog population? So stupid.

Likewise the dogs that attacked your dogs need to be on the lead and muzzled at all times when they're out, and maybe a stern word from the dog warden might help that along.

I think Police will act as you were hurt in the attack and it is an offence to have a dog out in public not under your control - which theirs obviously weren't!

My dog has been attacked by off-lead dog (mine is always on lead) and I reported to Police, who took action against the owner. Mind you, luckily (?) I was bitten by the other dog in the attack. so I am sure that was why police took so seriously.

I really hope the Police / warden take action for you. It is a terrible experience.

The attack happened on 26th Nov. I reported that evening and two days later they said the case is to be assigned to an officer and that someone will be in touch. Last few days I was emailing them to see what was going on and expressing my concerns. They asked me to come in this week to make a statement. This morning I receive a letter dated the 28th saying due in insufficient evidence the investigation is closed!!! What!!! Goes to show unless you chase up and make it a priority, they just don't want to know. You get an automated letter before anyone looks into your case.
