I don't know why am posting really, just wanted to talk about it instead of chewing friends and family's ears off.
she was just 7, kidney disease, happened so fast and died in my arms yesterday evening.
This morning i got up with the birds and buried her in my garden as the sun came up in her blanket with favoured toys, I have lit a lantern , as its her first night out there and I don't want her in the dark - do I sound silly?

No. You sound sad, and that's understandable. I'm so sorry you lost your little friend too soon Flowers

thanks to all of you. I think am doing okay then small things will set me off.
she was a real treasure, a propped sweetheart.
I plan on lighting the lantern every evening until I can get a more robust permanent solar one fitted , am I prolonging my grief though? I can't think of her out there alone

No you absolutely don't sound silly. You sound like the caring but sad and devastated Mummy you are. Your little girl won't be afraid, she's not alone, she'll always have you with her and she'll be by your side always too, you just can't see her.
I'm so sorry Flowers

I am so very sorry. We lit a candle every night for a year when out much loved cat died. Now we do it at Christmas and on her anniversary. We loved her so much, and still miss her. You are not being silly at all. Much love to you

Not silly at all. Really sad. Feel for you. Seven is too young. But she was loved and a beautiful description of the burial and lantern.

You're not prolonging your grief - you'd prolong it if you didn't express it. She sounds a beautiful and lovely girl. She will always be a part of you. We love all our dogs but I think everyone who has had dogs, has had "The One" - the absolute love of their life, much as they loved the ones that came before and those who come after. Sounds like she was your One. Be kind to yourself at this difficult time, and slowly over time, you'll start to think of the good times and think of her with a smile.

So sorry for your loss.

No you aren't being silly. Do whatever helps you through this sad time.

Try to take comfort from the fact that although she was too young, her life was full of love and happiness.

That's so sad.

They break our hearts when they go. Take as much time as you need.
