Iswhat my lab is just about to have his first birthday, so double trouble

Sids she is only 8 weeks old. We were not supposed to have her for another couple of weeks, but mum stopped feeding pups and as she was eating well and vet checked, they allowed her to come to us early.
She has had her first raw feed tonight and inhaled it, has been thoroughly cleaned by the cat and has inspected the chickens.

Looks like she is going to be a daddy's girl though, she likes his fat belly

So gorgeous - we go to meet our new retriever puppy on Saturday (currently two weeks old - arriving for Christmas!!).....

Well, we got through until 4 am before she needed a wee! Brilliant

She has been for a 'walk' this morning with Dylan (who adores her), has pushed him aside to try and eat his breakfast (and he let her), and is now crashed out on her bed, building up her energy for round 2!

Amazingly, we have not had an accident in the house yet, apart from 4 am when she wee'd into the palm of my hand as I carried her downstairs!

It is the lull before the storm, isn't it???

Probably the calm before the storm.

We got a 9 week old staffy from a rescue. Had her a week and I'm knackered! She had been in her basket on our bedroom floor but then scaled the heights onto the bed. So no hope of crating her up there, and we're scared if she sleeps with us we'll crush her.

So last night, the crate, alone, downstairs it was and she cried all night. I think we'll give it a few more days. She doesn't seem to go to the loo during the night (she did the first few days) and she didn't even know how to go on newspaper/puddy pads - and refused to poo in the garden even if she was desperate, as she hates being watched when she poos. But the last couple of days she has been very good about going on the puppy pads so we live in hope we can slowly push them towards the back door, then out...

Am not sure if my neighbours can hear her through the walls. The walls are thin but I can only just hear their baby (who has the lungs of a trucker) screaming so I suspect puppy yaps - although we can just about hear upstairs, can't be heard through walls...

Our last staffy slept through the night quickly and was crate trained fast and never had separation anxiety. This one seems to want to be velcro'd to me though. If I go for a wee, she wants to come too and if she's asleep and I twitch a muscle, her eyes open...

Joff my lab is like Velcro. He can appear to be in a deep sleep, but if literally twitch his feet hit the floor, ready to go, before his eyes are open!
He knows more about my toilet habits than any doctor and I have had to start putting PJs away immediately....... You do not want to know why

I've had three pups in the last few years and each of them has been good as gold for the first couple of days then suddenly turned into a complete monster once they've found their feet.

Have tried to put a pic up. Not sure if it'll work...LoathsomeDrab glad to hear my pup isn't the only monster. It's been 14 years since we last had a pup - I'd forgot that they are essentially little mouths on legs...

We've had our pup for a week and a half. First few nights he needed out after 5/6 hours at night and there were minimal accidents. However last few days it's been every 2-3 hours so we think that anxiety was making him hold it longer for the first few days. Hopefully he'll learn to hold it longer again soon!

MostAmused, we must have got our pups around the same day.

Our pup had her second night in the crate last night. And after crying all night the first time, last night she just settled down and went to sleep instantly and was quiet all night! We couldn't believe it.

No accidents in the crate and she goes the minute we get her out. But that first wee and poo are the only ones she reliably does in the garden. Otherwise, she holds it however long we're out, then goes on the pads when we come in...

Today's the first day she can go for a walk! Our biggest problem with her is the puppy nipping - none of the usual things like yelping, or ignoring her work at all! Seem to remember our last staffy pup was the same and then just suddenly grew out of it. Should lessen a bit now as we can walk her when she hits one of her mad half hours!
