The doghouse

OK so where do you put your dog walking stuff when you have no pockets?

WalterWhiteMakesBlue · 11/06/2014 12:17

I have just walked WalterDog with his bag of treats, 2 poo bags, phone and door key and dropped each item at least twice (or had them fall out of my woefully small shorts pockets)!

Winter, rain, no problem as coats with tons of pockets, but shorts and t-shirt - it aint working! Come and tell me what you do with your stuff?

Cross-body bag - currently an ancient Cath kidston messenger bag which I don't mind getting trashed but I'm angling for a nicer one as a present

A bum bag?

Lilcamper · 11/06/2014 12:32

I use one of these.

I have recently had two dog specific bum bag type things break in quick succession, so instead have ordered this, hasn't been delivered yet so cannot comment comment on its usefulness, but it had good reviews, mostly from dog walkers.

Crumpler cross body bag here.

I carry at least four balls (two squeaky, two non), usually a 10 or 20m long line, treats, rabbit skin tuggy, poo bags, clicker plus my own bits so a bum bag just wouldn't cut it!

Empty poo bags, treats etc I usually tuck I'm the top of my bra Wink

I am hoping my new bum bag will be quite sizable Spicy, I carry pretty much the same as you, so it better all fit! I have yet to carry anything made out of a bunny, though I am sure new dog would be happy to catch me one should I wish too Grin

A small cross body bag.

I use a gun dog cross body bag. It has an extra mesh compartment for carrying those pheasants that punter lab will bring back to me - not.
I also use it the mesh bit to put my phone and car keys in so they do not get muddled up with poo bags and treats.

Let us know how you get on with it Gobblers. I never saw myself having to carry smelly bits of bunny but needs must Smile

I always make sure I have jeans/shorts/crops with pockets. For my clicker, I have it round my neck, on one of those lanyard things you put ID badges on. Much easier.

If at dog show or similar requiring summer dress, tuck poo bags into bra strap. Grin

I have a poo bag dispenser that clips to the lead, I'm lucky to live and walk the beasts in an area that I can leave my back door unlocked with very unlikely problems touch wood so no keys, I have a clip in water bottle that goes jn my waistband, and phone goes in my bra blessed with large norks so plenty of storage space no treats for the though when DH isn't coming with us with his combat shorts on - they know the pockets on the thighs are the treat pockets

I have a bag on the flexi lead for bags, treats, smaller toys, keys. I usually have my phone in the back pocket of my jeans as it's just a tad too big to fit in the bag (iphones fit into the bag though).

My clicker is on a bracelet, so that's easy enough to carry around.

If I'm bringing more stuff than that (or don't have a back pocket), I bring a small cross-body bag.

Cheap canvas cross body bag off ebay (cost me the princely sum of £1.99 Grin) that I actually shorten the strap of and wear around my waist.

It has two sections, a large one at the back for plenty of poo bags, hand gel, tissues, phone, keys, ball and keeping my whistle where I can find it before every walk. Then a smaller front section that is just right for a bag of treats.

I am just starting to look for a new one actually as it's starting to look a bit old and tatty and I'd like something a bit smarter, so this thread is very timely. Smile

I only take bags and a whistle so I have, on occasion, stuffed these in my bra. It also is a good place to stuff things on a night out like too

I know this is the Doghouse not Style & Beauty but I feel obliged to put it out there - ladies if you can fit accessories in your bra it doesn't fit properly Grin

Cross body bag here too - way too many treats needed to get recall.

same as Moosemama - a canvas cross body bag. Mine was a free thing from a company and is quite inoffensive looking. I refuse to leave all style behind now I have a dog though.

I have space in it for keys, phone, poo bags, treats, hand gel and some tissues.

It leaves my hands free for picking up poo etc. Oh the glamour.

Can we have a dog walker Style and Beauty thread on here maybe? I would love to know too what shoes people wear when it is muddy but too warm for wellies!

I am no style icon but am fighting against the bum bag. So I have a "stylish" cross body bag that annoys the feck out of me as it slides in front of me and hits me on the bum to keep up appearances.

I am also refusing to wear the T shirt with paw prints on it that my DC gave me but it is very nice and makes me smile as I do not want to look like a sad dog lady all the time

I have a thingy that ties around the waist. Cannot remember the name for it, but basically a very thick belt that has zip pockets for money, pockets for poo bags, hand wipes, treats. Also has space for phone and headphones, clip for keys, clip for lead, and Velcro for tennis ball to stick too - this is the only useless part of the belt, the rest is brill. Can go for a walk wearing just a t-shirt and still be carrying everything I need.

Toooldtobearsed · 11/06/2014 17:31

I do NOT just wear a t-shirt, I also wear jeans! (Well, usually)!

Report
muttynutty · 11/06/2014 17:36

toooldtobearsed Grin Are you sure - I think I may have seen you out walking without your jeans the other day or maybe that was someone else?

I would also like to say that my bum is not in my front as suggested in my thread - weird people these dog walkers

"ladies if you can fit accessories in your bra it doesn't fit properly"

Definitely no room in my bra for dog training accessories! Grin

I went for the cross-body bag as I really didn't want a bumbag as well. Blush

I was seriously tempted by some of the hippy/pixie belt bags on Ebay for a while, purely because they're about as far away as you can get from a bumbag! Grin

I have a dog bag, it's a black nylon handbag from a charity shop, I sling it across my body over one shoulder. It has room for my phone, a small purse with enough cash for lunch and a credit card to top up the car, poo bags, treats, a couple of tennis balls and my cigarettes Blush. I can also get the A5 diary that is the lynchpin of the business in there, a few cards and flyers, a small bottle of sunscreen and a small can of insect repellent, a small pack of tissues and a small pack of antiseptic wet wipes and a water bottle. My whistle is on a lead with a handy split ring in the handle, so hangs around my neck, as do my keys on a lanyard.

Hurtta do some decent-ish not-too-bumbaggy Grin training bags, but they're not exactly cheap - here.

... and for any other hippy dog owners out there one of these perhaps?
