And I went on a walk and took one of their dogs Grin
This week I have a home check and if I am approved I will be emergency fostering. Also can then take dogs for the day to get them out the kennels for respite
So excited!!!

That's brilliant! The rescue will love you for doing it and I'm sure you'll love the dogs Grin

I'm still grinning from ear to ear Grin
Any tips for a home check?

Different orgaisations approach home checks differently. Some just want a quick look at the garden and some (the ones I do) are more like interviews.

If the latter, and just in general, I would advise you to be really honest about your experience and what you and your home are or are not suited to. Fostering is really rewarding but most placements with new fosterers that I see go wrong do so through well intentioned over-enthusiasm/optimism about what they can manage.

Will only be ever having dogs as one night emergency foster or through the day as respite so not long term
Am happy dealing with most things, used to big dogs
Now frantically tidying! I've got a water bowl, blankets, toys and treats

We had a lovely day yesterday, two walks and lots of snoozing!
Today I picked up another dog, we have been to a dog show and now we have come home. This one thinks he can fit on my lap (I'm slightly squished) Grin
Took lots of pics but don't want to bore everyone with them

Poor doggies.

How lovely that they get some quality time with you.

I loved Darcy but Teddy is also super cool. Mainly he is asleep on the sofa at the minute. We've done some sit practice Grin

Ah, Teddy's a staffy. I love staffies. How long have you got them for?

You absolute ?! It's so good when dogs get this, and saying it hwre might prompt others to do it, who can't take a dog on full time.

goodasitgets · 14/06/2014 16:15

Well I've had him since about half 12, probably take him back about 5pm. Although he's on his back, legs in the air and snoring Confused

And yes definitely, even if you can't bring a dog home, rescues always need people to groom dogs and walk them, or donate things such as old towels, duvets etc
I'm getting such satisfaction from seeing a dog that is so extraordinarily happy doing normal things like sleeping in the living room
